I had CX F a few weeks after SQ Suites and would totally concur.

More attentive FAs

Seat / Bed - far better

Foods - better quality, presentation

Movies - wider choice

Wing / Pier: better food choices than TPR but seating wise, TPR wins

Cabana: unchallenged winner cf. TPR standard offering

..... mineral water - no difference

Today 8 out of the 12 suites were occupied so I used two. One for a bedroom and the other for dining and movies.
There was a chef on board as a passenger. His specs are the way I recognized him and I left him to his double bed privacy.
Now I went Krug, caviar with icy vodka and the French red because I could. Mrscove went the water as usual.
I do love SQ Suites.SQ service is better than other carriers.

I have never flown CX F but I recently flew CX J MEL-HKG-PVG - a few thoughts:
More attentive FAs - CX crew on MEL-HKG SPECTACULAR - knocked me over - after my only other CX J flt a year or so back where crew except for IFS or whatever they call them was excellent - this flt this year ALL crew superb - was just like being on SQ :D

Seat / Bed - far better - I hate CX herringbone J seats - so narrow - basically your elbow / arm / shoulder continually contacts with one side or other - give me SQ Diamond or Weber seats any day.

Foods - better quality, presentation - food was quite OK - I think SQ has better meal presentation and serving definitely superior but CX was OK

Movies - wider choice - always have to BYO IFE on any carrier - have always seen the movies way before on IFE

Wing / Pier: better food choices than TPR but seating wise, TPR wins - due to CX flt delays / cancellations / negotiations / rebooking / scurrying off to catch earlier flt leaving later than scheduled had no chance to sample food or bevs - but I did notice no PH Rare on offer. So after all the drama in actually getting me to PVG when it looked at one point in time like they would never get me there - CX guaranteed me at boarding that my luggage was also on board - however on arrival into PVG I discover indeed it was not - it arrived 6 hours later and I did have it in my hotel 12 hours later - not a total disaster just minor PITA.

Cabana: unchallenged winner cf. TPR standard offering - SQ are adamant that they won't offer any sleeping facility even when TPR renoed later this year / next year or whenever they do actually start - well so they tell me anyway - but then again for years they also maintained they would never add PE to their metal yet they have. I do agree the ability to catch an odd hour or two nap would be huge advantage at times - but it is what it is.

One thing that really struck me as strange is that CX offer that Deutz vinegar which they loosely describe as 'Champagne' in J on MEL-HKG - yet on HKG-PVG they offer Billecart-Salmon - riddle me that one Batman?

And no pre dep drinks on CX morning flt out of MEL - crew maintained it is MEL Airport policy and not theirs - any clues on this? Have never struck this on any other airline that I can recall.

And as for the CX Lounge in MEL - what a disgrace! Absolutely ZERO edible food pre 7am - ZERO - QF J better but could not get a coffee there either at that time - the only staff member near coffee machine told me she was actually a table clearer but she would try to make me a coffee anyway.

..... mineral water - no difference - yep Perrier is Perrier.

It is a cx policy not to open the bar for the very early flight out of Mel (and I guess other ports where they have early flights). There is supposedly no demand for liquor at that time, and opening the bottles incurs paperwork and customs duty.

I think the champagne difference is one of competition. Intra-Asia fares can be very expensive, particularly to places like China, Taiwan Province, Singapore and Japan, and the offering reflects that.

Totally agree – that CX lounge is truly miserable. QF J lounge is definitely better, but all the MEL lounges kind of suck since they're all down in the bunker. Haven't used QF F though – I'd imagine that's a bit of a step up.

To keep it on topic, never flown SQ F ex-MEL, but there's something (weirdly?) cosy about the cave that is the SQ lounge. Never have a problem using it pre-SQ218 when I'm usually there.

Just booked our first R experience for my wife and I!! Flying Paris to Singapore in May next year. We have never flown international J before either and are flying SQ J to Zurich on the way over. Going to be a trip to remember! Our first time to Europe as well, 5 weeks travelling around. :) Is it bad I'm so looking forward to coming home from our trip? bring on the Krug! Haha.

Which lounge are we able to access in Paris for our return? And I so hope that as CE says, we will be able to access the private room once we get to Singapore. Flying SQ onwards to Darwin from there. In lowly Y lol. That's going to be a shock after the rest of the trip but wasn't worth the cash or extra points for just a silk air 737.

david absolutely you and your lovely wife will be able to enjoy TPR whilst you await your onward Y flt - this unpublished benefit is no and, if or maybe - it is unequivocal - at checkin CDG you will not be handed a Gold TPR invitation nor will your BP display an invite - but just front up and flash your CDG-SIN BP and you will be welcomed in.

Enjoy every second of your R exp - it will be so much fun for the 2 of you.

Getting into TPR has not been a problem. I do hold the two Suites boarding passes along with our business class boarding passes as we get to the lounge entry. We were given invitations in LHR this last time but never before. I doubt that it matters and we have gone there quite a few times.

Thanks very much guys. So excited for this trip and getting to experience international J and then R. We also managed to get row 3 for the return, double bed! Haha.

So which F lounge can we access at CDG?

Cheers,

David

Our experience over the last few years is that you are invited to use the only one SQ F lounge in CDG... take the lift and it's a room off business lounge....not like TPR so don't get too excited about that part of the journey... but it does get better when you board and then at Changi....

Question please for CE maybe? Last night booked SQ BOM - SIN - PER in First and then business, and because no saver awards available for the entire journey, I searched and booked 2 individual sectors in the same first and business at the same points....No luggage so bags no issue.....Question TPR in Singapore? SQ lady advised if I break down into seperate legs will only be able to use business lounge in Changi, not TPR.....

Less than 2 hours transit time so not a great issue on this occasion but would like the definitive answer from AFF experts if this situation arises again.... thanks

Rubbish - KF call ctr darlings have no idea of lounge access - same day arrival access into TPR offered and open to ALL R/F BP holders regardless of your activities / intentions rest of that day - just front up with your BOM-SIN BP and you will be welcomed in.

CE thanks for your advice....will do...

Just did LHR - PER last week and after a couple of attempts by phone, I had to book it as separate bookings as the reps were unable to book it as a mixed class as they said one leg was not showing any availability for a saver award despite being available for me to book online? Just showed both boarding passes at lounge and was escorted through to TPR!

I had the same experience so I tend to use the website citrusb. You can see why I have considered starting from MEL or SYD to go one class all the way.

Yes this is not uncommon and does not only apply for mixed class rdpts - time and time again members post that they can see 'Saver' availability for individual sectors but KF agents are unable to 'marry' the sectors. This is most times a result of yield management issues and not due to agents inability to secure bookings - it aint a perfect world and sometimes what appears to ne so straight forward from outside just not achievable on the inside.

I will definitely put that on our options list from now on.....It's just the extra leg over east 'before you start' that's sometimes difficult to get my head around.....Although it's what we do when travelling OW on A380 and I keep repeating to Mrs citrusb and all who will listen "it's the journey not the destination"
