Suites savers now available

The new F is one row only - four seats. I am not sure which aircraft have it, though.
Ahh ok. Haven't tried new F yet.

Just had a look at the dates I had waitlisted and now it shows 2 saver award seats available for booking. Weird and annoying how I was not sent a waitlist confirmation. Anywho, called up to upgrade my seats as was told they had to pass this onto someone else within SQ to process within 24hrs. Is this normal? Always thought they could do it there and then on the phone. Just scared the seats might get taken by someone else in between then and now.

edit: wow, a couple mins after I posted this I checked the website again and the saver award seats show waitlisted then soon after I get my sms that the waitlist for this flight is available for confirmation.

Should I wait for the SQ rep, from the previous enquiry to call back or should I just call them up again.

call them

Another question:
If I were to book 1x Saver and 1xStandard today, then my waitlist for 2xSaver comes through in a weeks time. Am I allowed to swap that Standard seat to a Saver seat (saving me 70k miles)?

No - If you get the standard, they will not let you swap to a saver later.
Just take the saver and waitlist the standard - nothing to loose - you can always cancel for a minimal cost later.

Background:
So my booked flights are J MEL-SIN-SGN return with a stopover in SIN on the way back for a few days.

Update:
So got a call from SQ on Saturday advising me that my request for upgrade could not be done because the ticket contains 2 sectors/legs, MEL-SIN and SIN-SGN and both sectors needed waitlist available to be confirmed despite having MEL-SIN F waitlist ready to be confirmed and SIN-SGN J confirmed seats on original ticket. So the operator placed SIN-SGN on the same waitlist as the F MEL-SIN confirmed waitlist booking (different from original ticket).

So I called SQ again yesterday and the agent was confused as to why the previous agent created a new waitlist for SIN-SGN and why they didn't just upgrade the MEL-SIN from J to F. As I redeemed the seats pre-award changes (back in March '17), they said there is a refund of ~$300-400 in taxes per person but the extra pts required is 44,500 pts per person (I'm soo confused as to how they calculate this, even though the operator tried to explain it to me).

So pre-march pts required for J MEL-SGN 55k (+15% discount) = 46.75k pts.
The pts for F MEL-SIN (SGN) required now is 80k pts.
difference between Old J and New F saver award seats one-way = 33.25k

So I figure I just have to pay up the difference of 33.25k pts, but apparently for return flights (even award bookings) that's not how it's done. It's calculated as a whole. So the MEL-SIN leg to upgrade to F is 44.5k pts, but the SIN-MEL to upgrade to F is about 22k pts, iirc. So upgrading both flights is a total of 66.5k pt.

Can someone with experience confirm if this is correct?

sorry if it was too confusing.

I may have missed this. But is the A380 being removed from the CDG route? Shows a 777 late in 2018.

Could be the Winter schedule. Currently SIN-CDG and CDG-SIN (I think) is 777. We initially had the A380 for our late Jan 18 SIN-CDG and late Feb 18 CDG-SIN but it was swapped out for 777. Consolation is that we get the new A380 for our SYD-SIN and SIN-SYD legs.

Just flew into MEL on the first Suites flights for Dec last night. The missus, bubs and I had the whole cabin to ourselves. Service was impeccable.

These seats were available as saver awards up to a month before the flight, but then became waitlisted. It was only a week before the flight that these seats were available for confirmation, but the thing was, I never received any sms/email to ask to confirm. It was only by chance I checked the my booking summary that it said it was available for confirmation.

So good tip for WL flights is to check your booking summary in case they don't send out a sms/email.

I'm interested in how many suites redemptions you were able to score? Is that 3, one for each of you or is bubs so small they don't occupy a seat?
Regards,
Peter
PS. I'm wanting to snaffle 5 seats for Europe in 2019 so interested in theoretical maximum redemptions (and I know it will only get harder with less suites/first seats per flight). I have a feeling I'll be stuck in business (FWP!) with the kids while the wife is in Suites.

Snagged 2, for missus and I, bubs was an infant paid ticket (10% of adult fare + applicable taxes etc)

You may be able to book 2 saver awards and 2 standard awards?

Has anyone looked for and found (or not found) saver awards for flights with the new 6 Suites?
ie. this is for new bookings after the official release, not pre-empted, speculative ones...

Gday

On another thread not sure if it was here or flyertalk a bloke showed the results of a bot he created that searched for the SQ flight from SIN- SYD that will be the new suites. The result- not a single saver seat available on any day the whole year.

My guess is that there will be no savers available until the hype has died down. My guess would be in 2019.

For those that are disappointed they wont be able to redeem the new suites as a saver- dont be. I am booked SYD- ZRH return next year and it is all old suites and 777 F. I have flown both of these before and they were excellent. Yeah it would have been nice to get the new suites but the service will still be top shelf and i can thank my lucky stars i am not one of the 500 others on the plane in Y.

Pele.

It is still a bargain on Standard Miles if you can run them up. The cash price would be a bit of a wealth hazard but much cheaper than running your own plane.

I wouldn't have needed a bot to tell you this. Same happened on the old suites then about 6 months in (can't remember exactly) savers started to become available. Given they have less suites now it may be a year at least before this happens if at all.

Thanks. I don't recall reading it here, probably on FT then...

I think we’d be lucky to get saver awards in 2019, depends on the routes and number of planes refurbished. On the LHR and SYD routes SQ have plenty F services so not much incentive to offer saver on new product.

Agree old suites and new F are excellent but if you’re unlucky to get old 777 F then better be in one of the new J aircrafts (bulkhead).

Finally back on the SQ bus again after a couple of years in the wilderness flying Etihad F. Their 100% strike rate loosing my bagage was just too much and the taxes are way too high aswell. Tonight F on 218 then R to LHR on 308 . F to NRT next week then back to MEL in F again a week later. Ah the joys of a 2 continent ski trip :)
