Given Executive Suite, with access to executive lounge. Checked out at 3:45pm.

sitting at sofitel shanghai hyland at the moment, booked 2 rooms superior queen room upgraded to premier suite on club level with club level access, received welcome drink and 4pm check out. the second room (for MIL) i booked got upgraded to superior club, reno'd room but still has club level access.

great property, nice location - leaving here tomorrow

Yeah the lounge is great.

Decent continental breakfast offering with a hot option (individual frittatas when I was there). They have assorted juices and a coffee machine.

In the evening there's assorted (and tasty) canapés along with a variety of NZ wines (red, white and sparkling). Self serve.

Throughout the day there's cold beverages available.

Seating - when you walk in there's tables to the left of the door. If you go around the right there's a few comfortable couches and a TV.

I feel really ripped off. Here I was downstairs paying for breakfast and drinks in the evening. Would have been nice to be told the was a lounge that I had access too.

Oh well, might be back there one day.

6/8 for upgrades. No rooms better than the one I booked available. Did get 4pm checkout tho even tho Novotel doesn't have to as per plat benefits.

what is your approach to the upgrade? do u request on the booking?, do u request on the checkin, email?

7/9 for upgrade. Only old get a 2pm checkout due to heavy booking. But still good. Got a martini and a martini glass of strawberries on arrival.

Obviously not pushing hard enough (unlike Taezar)

Novotel Brisbane.
Got a level 3 room, next to lifts (admittedly they did let me into the room at 7am - I was just planning on leaving luggage at that hour)
Did get $50 f&b voucher per night stay (part of booked package) and spent $101.50 over two nights!
Had requested upgrade on booking form (booked direct) but didnt push at check in

First suite upgrade at Sofitel Melbourne. Booked king club room, received junior suite, drink coupon, water, chocolates, fruit and card from customer relations mgr and 4pm check out.

Booked Grand Hotel Melbourne - 1 Bedroom Apartment, got 2 Bedroom Apartment and 4pm checkout and 11am check in on the day.

Last Upgrade I got in April at Sofitel Melbourne was from the Prestige Suite to the Suites on Level 50...there are only 3 of them and it was truly one of the most outstanding rooms I have ever been in. Lady at check in said they're normally used for Celebrities or Special Guests. It was truly a WOW room.
I have always gotten an upgrade at Sofitel Melbourne no matter what room type...a great hotel

I was in Geneva last week, a lowly Silver, but when I checked into Novotel Geneva Central I was upgraded to a Superior room, not a suite, but better than the room I got on my last trip to the same hotel. (That trip got me the Silver)
Incidentally, did the Facebook check in thing and got 50% bonus.
