Hi Everyone,

First off thanks to everyone who makes the Forum the best on the web !!

I have a trip comming up this week (Wednesday - Thursday)

I am only taking carry on, ( a roll aboard, that is more then the 2kgs for crash 8's) but am using a cobination of Larger planes and Crash 8's.

Flights are BNE-SYD. (Wens)

On Thursday we are doing.
SYD-ABX. crash 8
ABX-SYD, crash 8
SYD-BNE

Now my problem is, i will have a "normal" size carry on, that will be fine on the SYD-BNE legs, but not for the crash 8's.

I should not need the contents of this bag during the day, and i dont really want to be waiting for the bag in ABX or BNE, so i am wondering what my options are.

Am i best to find some bagage storage at SYD and leave the roller bag there for the day, and pick up on my way to the QC in SYD?
Has anybody used this service ? does it work well, or is the que usually longer then the bagage wait time?

OR is it possible to check my bag all the way through first thing in the morning on the SYD ABX flight ( so it will arrive with me in BNE) this would be the second choice, as i would then be waiting for the bag in BNE.

IS there any other options that anyone can thing of ?

Really appreciate your help

Cheers

Typically for larger carry-on when flying on Dash 8's, the ground staff will collect this from you when you are on the apron ready to board and stow in the hold. When you land they will retrieve from the hold and return to you as soon as you deplane.

Shano,
Thanks for your reply

This was the go in the past, as i recall it,

Though last time i flew crash 8's ( a month ago)
I was told this is no more,

EVERYTHING that goes in the hold, MUST be checked in. (for security scanning before loading so i was told)

Now this was in BNE and i am flying in and out of SYD, so it might be different.

Might be time to call QF and get their take on the issue.
Though there is no guarantee that what i am told on the phone, will happen when i get to the airport !

My last Dash 8 flight was December last year and they were happy to take my roll-aboard and put in the hold (I did remove my laptop though). If you have carry-on it should be screened anyway when you go through security in SYD after checking in.
