My adult daughter wants to book two nights at a Sydney hotel in early December and then one night about a week before Christmas. Her budget is $120 - $180 per night. Breakfast included would be a bonus. She would like something very close to the city and with easy access to public transport.

Any recommendations?

Or is she dreamin'?

Not dreaming, any aggregator site (eg. Wotif, lastminute, etc) or your favourite hotel chain site will have options in that range.

Markis points out that IHG has a HI in the range, Accor has two ibis hotels in Syd which are normally avail in that price bracket.

If she wants close to PT, look near Central Station, great access to trains and lower prices due to a perception of being a bit further from the touristy end of town (despite being 3 mins to Circular Quay on a train).

While we don't know where she wants to be, the Rendezvous Studio Hotel Sydney Central at Railway Square ticks all the boxes.

At the other end of town the Travel Lodge Wynyard can have specials on under $180.

Sydney Harbour YHA , The Rocks. Don't have to be a member some rooms have great views.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I had looked at hotelscombined and wotif but there were so many options from which to choose that I thought that some recommendations would be most useful. She has narrowed the choice down to The Bayswater in Potts Point and Travelodge Wynyard. I think the Travelodge at $150 will win.

Watch most of the options in Potts Point, the older buildings are not good with the noise such as the Mecure.

Better location and less rowdies.

Wynyard better location than Potts Point,,,depending on what you are after.

I beg to differ, and I pretty much live at Potts Point (in the HI) and work at Wynyard. I think the view might be tainting my opinion :)

I don't live or work at either so no bias.

But if you have two night somewhere.........I based it on travelling not living.

cheers

The cross has gentrified with the lock out. No rowdies. Often walk through there after quiz night and don't even get propositioned. :!:
