One thing I've noticed when quoting other members posts and viewing quoted posts is that while it shows their username it does not show the reply number. I find it useful when back tracking to read the original post in full as sometimes the quoted post has been edited to show a specific point. Which brings me to my next point, being able to quote selected text. By this I mean is it possible to highlight a specific bit of text within a post and hit the quote button. This would be useful for long posts where one would only like to reply to a specific portion of the post.

Finally, I've noticed that quotes on the iPad app don't even show the username of the original poster. I find that slightly annoying as it makes it difficult to know how far to go back.

Just a few suggestions. Not sure they're able to be implemented easily and I might be the only one here who wants it (in which case I'll probably just have to put up with it won't I?)

I can't help you with all the rest, but the easiest way to get back to the original post is to click on the arrow button at the top of the quote - in this case it should be next to 'Originally posted by elbarto'

With replying to a specific bit of a post just delete the unwanted stuff within the quote. Bit more difficult in the app. You can also bold selected bits if you really want to highlight something

The setup is as provided for in vBulletin Version 4.1.4, you'll need to research that for options.

I can't help you with Apple products but as per oz_mark's post, if you click on the symbol you can bring up the current quoted post. (Right click for new tab/window).

As medhead indicated it's easiest to click "
quote_40b.png
Reply With Quote" or use
multiquote-back_40b.png
(Multi-Quote) and "(+ Reply to Thread)" to quote text in your post then remove stuff¹ you don't need.

¹ Etiigute dictates that any text you remove get replaced with "elipses" [ ... ] and any inclusions be 'square bracketed' ("[<addition>]").
