Hi

My name is Claire Lee, my friends call me "Stupid!" :)

I travel for work every week between Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide (parents live there) occasionally Perth and London.

I am lucky to have a pretty good travel policy, all flights if possible are in Business (best fare/airline of the day though) and a few times a year I end end up in one of the corporate planes (my least favorite way of travelling)

I found this site through the frequent flyer facebook group (frequent flyers australia) - what a great bunch of people they are and realised quickly that they were all on here as well.

Thanks

Stupid

Are you flying J DOM more with VA or QF?
Which one you think delivers a better product?

Welcome, Claire.

Sounds like you travel quite a few miles each year!

Hello Claire Lee. I feel pretty stupid myself right now as my maiden post will highlight.

Hi - thank you for the warm welcomes. I travel both Qantas and Virgin domestic although international has a scattering of airlines being Qantas, British Airways and Singapore Airlines. As for service, a good question. I have found business class on the small planes far better on Qantas in domestic insomuch as I have recently started to refuse to fly any Virgin flights on small aircraft types, but occasionally across to Perth I fly on the larger Virgin Airbus and I have found the service to be on par or better than Qantas*. When Qantas were flying the 747 to Perth, I would always connect to Sydney (even from Melbourne) for this flight due to the business class product.

For international, I generally try if possible to ensure my travel requests are entered to suit a Qantas timetable but in many cases this does not matter too much as the cost of the air ticket varies usually within out tolerance level. I particularly like the Sydney lounge and frequently I receive upgrades with Qantas to First Class which is bliss.

I have never been upgraded on Singapore airlines and have been downgraded on British airlines between London and Singapore a few years back - our corporate travel manager got on the phone rather promptly on my return which resulted in a travel voucher being issued to be for quite a sizable amount, alas company policy stipulates this was returned to my employer.
