Has anyone successfully applied for a Schwab debit card as a Schwab One International account? Some people reported approval for certain countries but when I tried calling they said debit cards can’t be issued for Australia.

Yeah thats if you declared yourself as RA which will cause W9 form but heard someone managed to get the form approved as international so wasn't sure

Checked the website . Allows you to select Australia as country of residence .

That’s for Schawb International’s account. The debit card won’t be included; only the US account and some international accounts within their approved countries will be. That’s what the person on the phone told me.

When you try to apply for it online, it redirects you to a page with the phone numbers and you initalise the application over the phone. I called the phone number for customers outside the US and Canada.

Then minutes later after calling them, you will be sent an online Adobe Acrobat document to fill out by email.

So I rang and they are saying they can't send out the email if I'm not in the US, apparently they are not allowed to send it out to a person in a foreign country, I was on the phone for nearly an hour and couldn't get anywhere from that point.


Any help , anyone come across this and have a solution? Maybe I'm using the wrong words, just stuck at the moment

Just agree that you’re in the US. Do you have your US address on their system or your AU address? I would change the address in your profile to your US address. That will help with other card issuers like Amex when they ask for proof of address, they’ve historically accepted HSBC US statement. I’m sure you’ve taken care of this already but if you’re very early in your US cards journey, this should work in getting you to ‘yes’ with HSBC US.

I’m planning to divert my monthly USD funds transfers to pay for my credit cards to my HSBC checking account though does tagging the narrative as ‘Payroll’ work? I’m using Revolut for my funds transfers and currency exchange.

Just agree that you’re in the US. Do you have your US address on their system or your AU address? I would change the address in your profile to your US address. That will help with other card issuers like Amex when they ask for proof of address, they’ve historically accepted HSBC US statement. I’m planning to divert my monthly USD funds transfers to pay for my credit cards to my HSBC checking account though does tagging the narrative as ‘Payroll’ work? I’m using Revolut for my funds transfers and currency exchange.

I'll probably lose it as I get zero value of it now
