Has anyone paid the ATO directly with a US Amex? Are there any concerns about it not triggering SUBs? Seems like it should count based on the T&Cs.

Hi All - recently obtained US Amex card via global transfer. However card has now been frozen after receiving first statement.

Amex verification have referred me to notarycam to validate my i.d, however notarycam could not generate any questions from my name/ contact details to verify.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there an alternative?

Whenever they haven't had any details to confirm, they have made up questions like "what year did you have a loan on your white Camry?". Just respond that I never did

Got my first CSR approved.

Was initially declined, but then asked for reconsideration twice. Then was declined after recon because they thought the application was fraudulent. It was only after that happened that I was escalated to someone on the phone who asked a few questions and was able to approve me on the phone.

Took a lot of phone calls over the space of five days to push it through.

Thanks . Although I lost on sign up bonus for boundless bonvoy . Also rep said since offer was loaded on my card it’s as good as me receiving it for purpose of receiving bonus in future . Don’t think she is correct though .

“Effective July 13, 2026, your HSBC Elite Rewards Program will change as follows:

Select Airlines/Air Carriers, Car Rental Agencies, and Lodging (Hotels, Motels, Resorts)will continue to earn 5 Points per net dollar spent in these categories.

All other travel purchases will be classified under Other Travel and will earn 2 Points per net dollar spent.”

Nooooo - well spotted, I didn't see it. How are we meant to know who the 'select' ones are? I've been loving the travel spend, esp on trains too - sounds like that won't apply any more.
