Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks for the heads up re Br website. My browsers (Edge and Chrome) didn't convert to English which was annoying. Getting clear the points transfer at 1:1. What's the earn rate? Guessing it's 1 point/USD - will be pleasantly surprised if there are bonus categories.

I have my brokerage assets in a Netwealth Wrap now so I'm thinking that's not going to help me. Otherwise, was using Interactive Brokers previously.
Looks like the BR version rates are awful... And only included 10x PP. It only needs BR bank statements for eligibility though so wonder if global version would be different since needs US assets

HSBC DP:
- Applied online - only AU contacts used, no plans to move to US
- Email query 25 hours later asking if monthly wires from Australia will be from HSBC AU or OFI (application asked if will have monthly in/outward international payments)
- Replied to email 8 hours later
- Accounts opened (Premier checking, relationship savings, premier savings) 12 hours after reply
- Email from Welcome Care Advisor 24 hours after accounts opened asking to book appointment to discuss accounts, debit card delivery

Specified in application that was interested in CCs which I assume the Welcome Care Advisor will also handle.

Overall very seamless process, total time from application to account opening <48 hours
What purpose for opening did you state ?

Investment purposes.

Another HSBC DP:
- DMC sent out Friday from Omaha, arrived Wed, would have been Tue but DHL couldn't get access - signature required
Welcome Care Advisor notes:
- Possible to hold both Premier and Elite and eligible for SUBs - seems like others here have got different info from contact centre so be interesting what happens in practice
- If you have existing HSBC CC in another region they use that relationship as part of the credit analysis
- Apply online preferred, or via welcome advisor, or contact centre
- CCs have quite few more niche benefits not visible on the main webpage - need to click through to the benefits page - comparison doc that covers most benefits here
- Bank account statement cycles only possible monthly based on account opening date - queried about if possible to get calendar month statements

Might just apply for Premier CC first then maybe try luck on Elite later on, otherwise I'll wait for the first statement for GT Hilton Honors for credit age purposes. Either way, seems like if I don't provide ITIN (applying soon) to HSBC, it wouldn't show on credit file anyway?

Some of us have been told that, only for it to all fall down when we actually try and obtain the second card. In practice, I have not seen anyone actually end up holding both.

Even if you did provide it, it sounds like reporting to credit bureaus is very spotty.

good question - has anyone - itin or otherwise - had hsbc report to a agency in us - hard to know with certainty as I only have itin and can get my equifax report.
