Strategy to obtain US Amex

Chase has asked for a fax with my w-9 form (ITIN). Who uses fax? Anyway has anyone had this? I am worried if it comes from a AU number they will make the process even harder
Was this over the phone? Or via letter? Try to give them a call and they might be able to read you a statement and you can verbally tell them the ITIN.

Does anyone have the Amex Plat and been able to successful sign up to Walmart+/Paramount+ and used the service whilst in Australia? Keep running into issues with setting it up and getting it working.

They asked for this over the phone (they had sent a letter out). If I attended a branch, then they could upload it.

They want the actual statement as I had my ITIN on the application

That is strange. Call again and see if it changes. I called before the letter turned up and the person on the phone said I can provide it over the phone after a brief statement about incorrect ITINs.

Finally trawled through all the posts....only took a couple of weeks.

Will try GT for Aspire in not too distant future.
Have a tello number already
Will ask a friend in the US if I can use his address

Anything I am missing?
Welcome, you are on the right track.

May I ask why are you choosing the aspire card? I believe it is popular within this thread but I was wondering how is the $550 USD annual fee justified?

have an amex surpass which has $50 hilton credit per qtr, can someone pls tell me the best way to spend 50USD in Sydney? I am not keen to stay at hilton sydney or other hilton branded hotels due to the services i received before. am i able to spend the credit on drinks in one of the bars at Hilton sydney?

I was asked once in 2020 and when I asked about the secure upload, I was told such a thing didn't exist lol I even told them I used it on my previous app but they wouldn't budge. Anyway I just used Faxzero.com and it went though fine.

Thanks.

I agree the $550 USD AF is steep, but my partner and I do use the Hilton chain when we travel, so the diamond status is worth it. (occasional upgrades and access to exec lounge etc)

I believe Amex requested a fax as well previously . There are US services like e-fax where you can email / upload document and they then fax it locally from a local number .

I agree. I got the Aspire but if I had my time over again I’d go for the Bonvoy Brilliant. Spend far more time at Bonvoy hotels than I do Hilton. The Lounge access was the appeal but the Brilliant offers that too.

But it was $450 when I applied and the Bonvoy wasn’t in its current form. I’ve toyed with the idea of downgrading the Hilton card to a freebie and going for my third GT with the Bonvoy card …. but an abundance of caution prevents me.

I’m not prepared to go through the process to get an ITIN so a local application is out of the question.

FWIW - I love the Aspire. I am a Hilton boy, but only because I have no cards that transfer to chase then I might change to Hyatt.

For Hilton, I stayed in the Queenstown and used the credit and will use the 2H credit in Bora Bora this year along with a couple of FNC

Hyatt no doubt is the best hotel program worldwide but not easy for an Aussie to collect points unless you have Chase cards. Not much mid-scale options here in Australia to earn nights on the cheap. Decided it is in the too hard basket :(

That's exactly what I thought.
