Strategy to obtain US Amex

I used one phone with gmail/google accounts from 3 different countries. It's Android though, not sure if Iphone is different.

I couldn't add cap1 card to Google Wallet though until I called them. Then after I changed the phone, it wouldn't work again and I couldn't be bothered.
I am using Android as well. How could you change between countries for Google Playstore. I am struggling to handle 2 phones 5 emails, 2 US talkatone phones and multiple shopping accounts, multiple cashback portals, airlines FF, hotel programs v.v. Now need to add extra multiple Google playstores. Life is not easy. o_O

This is the life of a churner

You can add multiple email accounts to one Play store and they can be from different countries. You just need to switch the account in the store. I have some 5 accounts there from 3 different countries.

Finally trawled through all the posts....only took a couple of weeks.

Will try GT for Aspire in not too distant future.
Have a tello number already
Will ask a friend in the US if I can use his address

Anything I am missing?
Hi just wondering if you applied for the US amex via global transfer yet. I’m in the same situation as you. I’ve had an nz Amex for several years now. Just trying to crunch the numbers whether this is worthwhile with the Amex fx rates and fees, MR transfer rate to amex using nzd:usd rate, and tello fees! Thanks for any data point on this.

No. Haven't pulled trigger yet. Need to sort out address first.

Does anyone know if the 3x MR earn on travel with the Us Amex green card includes airfares booked on air nz and qantas?
Even in foreign currencies you still get the 3x on the settled USD amount

Am doing my due diligence on whether to apply for Global Transfer as I have amex plat currently. Thanks to all that have posted on this thread. Very helpful, although I have skipped the posts on cards going missing to myus and also on trying to get an ITIN. I have relations in the US so have an address there. Up to page 35 😂.

BTW does anyone know how you can quickly go back to the last page you have read on the thread, rather than having to advance the page count manually everytime?

Just had some questions people might be able to answer:
Would buying gift cards at Woolworths trigger an amex financial review?
Does Wise allow payments to amex to pay off the credit card balance. Those XE fees are prohibitive.
Would rewardpay allow you to load a US amex card?
Would points.com purchases earn the 3x and 5x travel rate?
How much does a supplementary card cost once you have a US amex?
Does anyone think paying your tax on the US amex would trigger a local tax audit??

Just also wondering, by applying for an ITIN, would that potentially down the line, should you have/get US investments, capture all your worldwide income under the US tax system? If that's the case, that would not be worth registering for an ITIN for a few extra airline miles...

Thanks for any advice on these matters!

Woolworths (and Coles, etc) purchase data does not specifically identify GC purchases to Amex, as such, regardless of what is on the store purchase receipt.

I have been using Wise to pay my monthly Aspire card balance for a couple of years without any issues.

Similar experiences have been posted upthread by the way.

Thanks DC3.
Still getting to some of those posts. Going to blitz it this week with the reading.

Another question regarding Tello & Textnow. Just wondering, textnow is free. Does that mean that you get a lot of adverts coming through to your phone if you use their service? That could get annoying...

Nope - I bought A$20k+ worth of GC's across my 2 Amx just last week. And have bought many more over the past year with no issues till date.

I was comparing fees yesterday for Wise vs IBKR( which is what I use)
the fee to transfer 10k AUD on wise was A$48 vs A$4 on IBKR..if you end up spending a lot on US amex you should look at setting up an account with interactive brokers or any such brokerage firm which offers this option.

I've paid ATO directly with no issues....

Thanks for this maverick1. Very helpful.
If I open a IBKR account can I buy usd and then pay my us amex card from that account? I noticed the Wise fees are creeping up.

Third US Amex via GT approved today, Rose Gold via the Resy link, surprised to see they let me tick the box to use my passport as ID, I thought that'd gone other than while logged in and applying direct to Amex.

Anyway 75k SUB and 20% back on restaurant spend for 6 months, if anyone's interested (edit - via the Resy link, you'll need to Google online, I don't think I can refer, so this isn't an advert for such). Green, Gold and Hilton Aspire now, combined with my Aussie and UK cards I'm spending a fair bit on annual fees now!!

Agree, Australia doesn't have the level 3 reporting of purchase data that the US have, so anything bought in a supermarket is supermarket spend, only Woolies Rewards itself would be able to differentiate.

Also use Wise to pay my US Amex bills each month. Significantly easier than the ICC US$ card (which is/was actually designed for ex-pats), which I paid using my Citi Plus account...no idea what I'll do now that's gone, but I don't use the card, so might finally give it the axe when this year is up (thinking long and hard though, as it's no longer available, so once it's gone, it's gone, and the annual fee for the insurance is heaps cheaper than actually purchasing travel insurance).

Yesterday I applied for my 1st Chase Marriott boundless card with ITIN. (already a Chase checking customer)
Online was given 7-10 days message and if approved you will receive the new card in the mail.
Today I called the Chase recon line, the rep stated that "it is in the system review process right now" and no other info needed from me. I asked if Chase did hard pull my credit yet and the answered was no..... that's strange or they may already had who knows.

Any one with this similar experience?

Where did you apply for your ITIN and how long did it take to get it?

Just wondering if anyone has applied for a supplementary card for the Amex green card. My partner is already a supplementary card holder for my nz Amex plat. What is the process for supplementary US Amex card obtained via global transfer.

Textnow is okay with a bit of ads - I have however opened a line with Tello and it works perfectly with wifi calls and sms in Australia.

There was some discussion about US supps earlier this month - the supplementary card form asks for an SSN/ITIN but apparently you can request one with a passport via live chat.
