Strategy to obtain US Amex

Update on Credit Reporting:
I have a SSN and called AMEX why my details (that I have a card) where not reported to the credit Bureau (Amex number to confirm 18008742717 on credit bureau) after my first billing cycle. I was told it could take one or 2 billing cycles. The Bureaus then takes 24 to 48 hrs to report. I was unlucky since my first billing was on the 15 Dec. and did not get reported. Now I have to wait for 17 Jan (15 Jan + 2 days) to see an update on my credit file.

I was hoping it happened this year so that I could apply for the Chase Hyatt card and get the 10 stays rather than the 5 Stays promotion. With that I may have to miss the Amex Marriott Bonvoy card as the promotion finishes on the 13 Jan. I dont want a hard enquiry before my chase application cause it could potentially drop my credit score from 742.

Just received an email from transferwise saying the US bank details have been changed and it looks like the new US bank account from transferwise is a real bank account that allow direct debits, anyone wants to give it a shot? That would solve the problem of trying to setup a US bank account from Australia.

Sounds interesting. Any idea how this actually works? Is there more information available? e.g., Which US bank? Do you get your own bank account number? How does it work for deposits? Fees?

This is what I see on transferwise, I got an upcoming payment on 9th of Jan so decided to take a punt, transferwise claims it works with Paypal and Amazon, so I guess it should work with Amex too?

I left out the bank details but it appears as a checking account in US.

The transferwise blog explicitly mention we can use direct debit to pay off card providers such as Chase and Amex, hopefully I won't run into any issues:
USD direct debits are here. And they are awesome. (That's back in July, when it was only made available for US customers).

Amex US Direct debit worked using the transferwise USD account! The only issue though is transferwise probably won't help with address verification, but at least it is much cheaper to pay this way than the old international TT method:

Your Direct Debit payment to AMEX EPAYMENT has gone out.

That used xx_ USD from your balance.

You can manage all your Direct Debits from your TransferWise account.

In terms of how I loaded USD into the transferwise account, I just used OSKO payment using AUD and the USD was there within a few minutes.

Amex platinum replaced wireless and streaming credits ($20 + $20) with $30 Paypal credit from Jan - June. Transactions must be made in USD at US merchants using US Paypal account.

Was hoping they extended wireless credit so I can topup my t-mobile. Time to do a bit of a research on what to buy.

Is your TransferWise account setup as an AU or US account? Mine still showing not support for direct debitAEC6D15C-DC2A-4C87-B822-1316FCAF53A2.jpeg

Based on the information provided by glasszon I have since opened an Australian TransferWise account, with USD balance ready to go.

Also, I’ve set up the Amex direct debit to pay the Aspire, but have not used it as yet.

How long did people start receiving a credit score after signing up to their first AMEX?

My card was approved in August, and my first spend on the card was before the end of September statement.

The December statement hasn't posted yet, however this will make 4 statements in total with spend on this card. When I try to view my credit score on the amex free tool or credit.com I get an error that nothing is available at this time.

I was expected a few statements, but not sure if this has changed recently?

Received the Aspire in January 2020. FICO in October. So, 9 months.

Edit: Posts upthread indicate possible 8-12 month range. Patience Grasshopper.
