For those who are making payments via FX transfers, how did you go about doing that? I searched but couldn't find their bank details (although the Europe Amex seems to list them) and when I tried calling them, they said you can't pay via wire transfer and the only payment method is via checking account?
I don't have a US bank account so can only pay via international transfer...
I am using XE transfer

Thanks! That's exactly what I'm trying to use. How did you get the information required? Did you call them? So this is HUACA situation and just try another agent? She said that's exactly what she was trying to do yesterday (wire transfer) and it doesn't work. Guessing if you're using it then she's wrong...

Not sure what's your question. I never call them, just open an account with them, fill in the amex@chase details, follow the steps to make the transfer.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on who I called. I tried calling Amex to get their details for the transfer and the agent said it couldn't be done.
I've never used XE before but I assume you need to first add Amex as a Recipient so need the details such as Bank account, routing number etc?

ah, right. Login Amex, have an online chat with the amex agent, ask for international wire transfer, they will send all the details. Once got those, signup with xe, create a recipient with the details you got from amex. Then you can start the transfer

any ideas on obtaining a US mailing address if you don`t have a friend or relative in the US ? What service has worked for you guys?

I just decided to take the plunge as I was shown an offer of 45K MR (usual sign up is 30K). I got the following message:
Thanks, albyd. We've received your application, but we can't give you a decision right now.

We'll process your application as soon as possible and send you a decision within 14 days.
While we're reviewing your application, please don't submit another application for the American Express® Green Card.

I received an email to the same effect as well.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is this going to be resolved with an approval? My FICO is in the high 700s but don't have a SSN. Have an appointment in a few weeks at the US consulate to "Notarize" my license so I can send it across to the IRS to get an ITIN. Starting to wonder whether I should've waited until I got my ITIN. Logging in via my existing Amex US login for the 'easy' application reduced my sign up bonus to 30K MR.
Hi Did you find a US mailing service that would work for you in terms of card forwarding ?

There’s plenty of helpful information already posted, upthread.

I have recently started the process with two trial mailing runs to Oz, through MyUS.com. I don’t have a USA residential/relative/friend address.

The items arrived today, via Australia Post (FedEx from the USA to BNE). I had already nominated FedEx as the courier through the My USA.com site.

Edit: One trial mailing was sending to myself (to the MyUS.com suite address) an expired cc. So, I have now received that. So, in this case, a cc did not pose a problem.

just got approved online for the green card. used my us and text now. Anything I need to be wary off in the next few steps? can one apply for any no of US cards?

... How can I obtain the card no without ontaining the physical card?
If you intend to use the card, then you may need the 4-digit security code for some transactions? Not just the card number?

Edit: From your post, above, you are already set up to receive the card through MyUS.com, so it’s on it’s way?

Also, maybe re-read posts by jasonfungsing, Spazmos, albyd and others, up-thread, which contain most of the information that you are seeking.

It’s on its way to my us .

Is xe the most Cost effective way of Paying the monthly statement ? Is the fix spread costly for those using their US Amex in oz and then buying US $ to pay off the statement ?

bought the luggage online and always direct to au website, however, bought the chepeast one cost about 230 aud, and online chat amex said has to wait 7 weeks to get the credit back. and he check my purchsing and said it looks eligible. who knows what will happan, anyway will update 7 weeks later
you can change the location right down the bottom of the website.
glad it worked out but 7 weeks is a long time to get your credit back.

Thought I'd take a punt and ask on here. To get my 45K MR welcome bonus on my Green card, I need to spend $US2000 (pretty close to $A3000). I'd normally not have any problems finding bills and spending to easily get me there. Was tempted to buy some GCs which I could then spend later. I've read online that AMEX could do a Financial Review and freeze your account while they're doing it if they can see you're buying GCs (I've noticed on my Aussie Amex it often says "Gift cards" on my statement when I buy them from say Westfield.

Has anyone had a financial review and lived to tell the tale?

If you buy woolies or coles GC in store, there is no way amex know. That's what I did :)

Once one receives their first US amex card , is it easier to apply for and receive subsequent US amex cards?
Can one have their australian address and mobile no as their permanet contact details and have subsequent cards sent there directly?
