Strategy to obtain US Amex

Once one receives their first US amex card , is it easier to apply for and receive subsequent US amex cards?
Can one have their australian address and mobile no as their permanet contact details and have subsequent cards sent there directly?
It would be better to wait 6 months to apply for subsequent US amex cards.

BTW, there have been quite a lot of posts explaining similar questions to yours upthread.

Did anybody else use the free account from My US to receive the card? My card was dispatched on 12 Dec but has not been received at My US apparently as there is no tracking. Amex can`t send expedited shipping with tracking to my address ( My US). My US enquired on what the envelope looked like( I applied for the green card) and the address it was sent from. Does anyone have an image of the amex envelope they could share?
thanks in advance.

Thought I'd report back. Finally got my Green Card. Had issued to my US address but never arrived. I called last weekend and let them know I'm currently in Australia and they cancelled it and sent it to me by DHL. Got it yesterday. Looking forward to taking it for a whirl today at breakfast :) I'll keep a closer eye on the FX conversion now too.
Hi albyd I`m in a similar situation. my green card has not arrived at my us. How did you manage to get them to send it to oz? I tried but can`t get them to identify me as I don`t have an SSN. any tips? Do share. thanks,

Why can’t AMEX identify you by sending a security code to your USA phone number? And you confirm the code on receipt.

They know that you do not have a SSN and applied through GT. Have you actually spoken to a CSO or are you just following prompts (which would never work without the SSN)?

(I have no experience with phoning and am yet to apply.)

Edit: See Post # 241 by Spazmos, regarding AMEX text verification.

AMEX quote 7-10 days for card delivery. Depending on what date you spoke to MyUS, you are probably at the 10-day mark on 22nd (23rd in Oz). With the USA holiday season, maybe a slight delivery delay is possible?

There are posts about AMEX not including the actual Suite number in the address block, but a search by MyUS located the envelope under the name of the addressee.

i don`t have a US phone no as I am using text now.also it never really got to that stage they said my phone no needs to registered for at least 6 months before they can use it for verification. I have spoken and also chatted umpteen times.

I have TextNow, and I make and receive phone calls using the TextNow USA phone number. Not really sure how AMEX would know how long I have had that USA phone number though.

Anyway, I was just offering up ideas that may help. Maybe others can assist further.

Hi,

I think there might be a problem with MyUS receiving cards. I didn't receive my AMEX card and I have recently had a card from another issuer not show up either. Is there another provider that is more reliable with receiving CCs? I've been prepared to stick with MYUS as it has worked but it's quite expensive and they want to charge to send you an image of what's in your mailbox on top of the hefty delivery fees (do I really need to get non-time critical mail by Fedex? Is there another reliable service any other members are using which might fit the bill?

I got my Amex by calling Amex to report it hadn't yet arrived. I told them I'm travelling in Australia and to send it to me in Australia and provided my home address. I missed the courier and they did a re-delivery to work.

I wouldn't be surprised if Amex get an influx of Aussies who are asking to have their cards delivered to Australia because they didn't get delivered to their Florida address, they'll shut the whole thing down which would be a great shame as we're all keeping our accounts in good order and being good citizens,

Yes, you and others have provided some valuable information.

blacksultan, much of the information that you have previously sought is already contained in this thread. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but you may benefit from carefully going back over the past few months of posts.

Edit: Lots of reading, there, but very useful. 😉

Didn't think this would be of much interest with members still discussing on this topic. Glad to see people obtain US issued amex. But would love to hear if anyone has been able to obtain Citi, Chase, BOFA, AMEX business credit cards?

I've been working on building my Chase cards first before obtaining other cards lest being locked out due to their 5/24 rule. Still working to get Chase World of Hyatt Card then obtaining other bank issuers credit cards.

I got a Citi US card a few years ago. Had to open a checking account in person at a US branch. Then 6 months later was able to open up a credit card remotely from Australia from a defined list which has a special. application form for this program.

Policies keep changing. They won’t open them up anymore if you’re a foreigner. I think Amex Global Transfer is the only option left. No experience Re Business cards I’m afraid.

please let us know if you have successfully applied for any Chase cards as I also want to apply one of their cards. The world of Hyatt point is the most valuable point.

Living in LA & have a SSN so no problems in opening up a personal checking account with Chase & obtaining personal credit cards. However obtaining business credit cards could be possible, Chase Ink Preferred card that has a 80K signup bonus & you can transfer out those points to Hyatt. Any Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to a number of partners.

do you mind if I ask how you get the SSN? I can only get the ITIN but ssn requires a visa which I don’t want and have time to apply.

Amex has dispatched my card the second time to MyUS as MyUS said they had not received it and would most likely have rejected it as i didn`t have the premium plus mail membership.
Also said if there is no tracking no it would be classed as mail and hence rejected. Amex have not been able to provide a tracking no.
Some members here have mentioned they have been able to have their mail retrieved with a standard membership, any tips on how they managed to do so and not have their mail from amex rejected? thanks in advance
