Hi there

I'm trying to book a fare on the BA website that combines two half return fares to form a circle trip. No problem there but it won't let me add in a stopover on the second fare component even though it permits it in the rules for that fare. The first fare component does not permit stopovers, however, and the second component states (under permitted combinations):
OPEN JAWS/ROUND TRIPS/CIRCLE TRIPS
FARES MAY BE COMBINED ON A HALF ROUND TRIP BASIS
-TO FORM SINGLE OR DOUBLE OPEN JAWS/ROUND TRIPS
-TO FORM CIRCLE TRIPS.
CIRCLE TRIPS NOTE -
IF COMBINING FARES EITHER HALF ROUND TRIP OR
END-ON-END THE MOST RESTRICTIVE CONDITIONS WILL
APPLY

Does that therefore mean that the no stopover rule from the first fare component also applies to this one because it says "the most restrictive conditions apply"? I thought that was to do with change and cancellation penalties, not stopovers...

Be great if anyone can help!

Thanks

No, it applies to all fare rules (min/max stays, stopovers etc).

Thanks for the reply. It's interesting though as it doesn't (and can't) actually apply to all fare rules as it still allows the same number of transfers as per its own rules, not the more restrictive fare. Though of course it would be impossible to construct the fare if you couldn't still use its routing and transfer rules. Pity that doesn't extend to stopovers though.

What is the itinerary you want to do ie the cities you want to stopover in?

Cheers

Hi
Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier and thanks for offering to help. Turns out I couldn't get around the "most restrictive rules" issue. I've gone ahead and booked the flights without the stopovers - well, still with an overnight but less than 24 hour stop. I combined a LHR-PTY with a PTY-SYD, both BA fares. The PTY-SYD allows travel via MEX and I would have wanted the stop there but it's not the end of the world. As my partner says, MX is in oneworld now so there'll be more trvl via MEX!
