Looking at going to LHR from MEL on Singapore Airlines. Am a Gold Velocity member. Was wondering what the good people of AFF do in my situation - stop in Singapore for an hour and keep on going or having a three-hour stopover, access the lounge and have a shower etc?
This is mainly for the return legs of the journey, but it can be done on way over as well.
What would people do?

would normally always stop for a nice shower, change of clothes and bite to eat before the long trek from Sin - LHR however as pointed out below not sure if there is access to showers in the Singapore Airlines lounge youd have access to as a VA gold. If thats the case might be aswell to get straight through to london, or use the lounge and check for shower options (think there is a paid shower service available in Changi)

There are no showers in the lounge, it's true. When I'm flying economy through SIN (also VA Gold) I prefer the longer stop just to stretch and get some lounge time & shopping in. SIN T3 is pretty nice. You can have a shower at the Ambassador facility in T3. i think it cost about 9 SGD, and the facilities were clean and towels and toiletries were included.

Ambassador Transit Hotel

I did this on one recent trip and then headed back to the lounge to relax. Felt much better before getting on the next dreaded leg to LHR!

The Transit hotel is a pay by the hour jobbie with a maximum of 7 hours from memory. Reasonably good value. Book ahead.

I opted for the route via Abu Dhabi this time round - same points/sc's, but looking forward to trying out the F lounge :) Plus on way back as it's a VA flight i've used miles to upgrade AUH to SYD to Business :)

Singapore is an ok stopover - but don't get too excited about the lounges!

Other good route is Atlantic and use the Clubhouse in HK
