Staying in your seat

Staying in my seat for 14 hours is not something I want to achieve. I walk around the aircraft at least 2-3 times and use at least 1 business class bathroom.

I used to be able to stay in my seat for the entire flight without issue. Not so much now.

It's surely not good for your body to reduce hydration to the level where you do not have to go to the toilet during such a time frame.

On a recent SIN - MEL flight (not as long as some above) the two pax next to me did not go to the loo.

I agree njba, given that they were not asleep for the whole of this time, it is unlikely to be healthy to do that. Most of us tend to urinate about six times a day if we are drinking a normal, sufficient amount of fluids. I am not an expert but presumably drinking beer makes one urinate more frequently. I generally enjoy one beer on a flight and do not find that it has any obvious adverse effects.

That really annoys me. You should at least be trying for a First Class bathroom!

On JQ Y a few years ago HNL - SYD, the boy next to me about 10 years old didn't once move from his seat. Pretty much the whole way he very nervously gripped the armrests. As he was in worse shape than me (being in Y), I just leaned toward the aisle.

15 years ago I used to take a window seat in Y on AUS-US flights and remain seated throughout the flight... these days I need to get up and stretch and use the toilet, so will take an aisle instead.

It's surely not good for your body to reduce hydration to the level where you do not have to go to the toilet during such a time frame.

Some people do sleep for 8 hours or more and don't need to drink or go to the toilet during that time. There are even people that fast for prolonged periods of the day or night as well, with minimal health impacts. So it can be done but certainly not a choice everyone makes.

Fell asleep in Y once while taxying out in KUL and woke up on approach to LHR. Hadn't slept the night before departure and stayed awake all the way to KUL (ex-MEL).
