Flew on the 9pm MEL-SYD with VA last night. The sheer quantity of people with either
a) Shoes off and feet up on a neighbouring seat; or
b) Shoes on and feet up on a neigbouring seat; or
c) Shoes on or off- and up on ones own seat - was astounding.

I know there are countless threads on plane/lounge/general etiquite, but I was honestly amazed. Just need one person to step in a Rottweiler's poo, and for them to prioritise their leg comfort over common decency, and then I am stuck trying to clean said poo off my pants in the bathrooms.

I propose either a lounge dragon being allocated to 'no feet on seats' like on public transport (or as I have have seen in the SIN QF lounge). Or perhaps a photograph and shame twitter tag like #CarryonShame. Perhaps #NoTineaOnLoungeSeats .

Someone get home to find they have soiled pants?

I can't quite get the whole putting your feet on a seat (or even table) in a public place (i.e. on furniture which is not yours, unless you were medically required to do so. Just doesn't sound proper.

I guess some people figure that since they are not cleaning the seat, and if you don't like that seat you can find another one, then.......

Even if I sleep on a bench or long couch in a lounge, I usually put something under my feet so they don't touch the seat.

I don't get it either.

It has become acceptable that teenagers are doing it as well.

Oh look at what I can do. Aren't I clever? ....

Please don't get me started on this. I'm frequently appalled at this disgusting behaviour.........or perhaps more correctly, the fact many people don't seem to even realise this is disgusting behaviour.

Trouble is, it's not confined to zoo class either.

There is no decorum or anyting nicessities on flights anymore these days.
None what so ever.
Shoed feet or unshoed feet on seats, ...
Seat kickers, ...
People who purposely put their seat back while the person behind is eating, ...
People invading other spaces, ... what is it with Indian men like to have their feet touching others, I am not your boyfriend MATE I felt like saying, ... one time, like as if he was trying not to pee on himself, and I mean his feet were wide, ...
People who lean onto the arm rest into my zone, ...
People who stare at me, for what reason I know not, ...
People who try to chat me up with religion, ...

Anat0l first few words on that reply is scary, ...
But I guess it can happen on long flights, if you are in the window seat and can't wake the person next to you, or the two next to you to get to the loos.
And another question, how do people do the big bizzo on the plane loo?

I'm not 100% sure, but I took anat0ls remark to be in reply to the hypothetical posed by cleaver before him (copied below), rather than paxs choosing to soil their own pants in lieu of waking the person beside them..........

As for the other bit........I think doing the big bizzo on a plane loo is pretty much the same as doing the big bizzo on any loo......instructions not provided due to it's graphic content! ;) :D

I was recently disgusted by a passenger in 3E with their feet on the bulkhead for the entire flight. But the really, really, really galling bit was ...he wasn't even supposed to be seated there. There I was in the OOL lounge, taking scant notice of a conv between two pax who had never met before. Pax #1 was rabbiting on about how good row 3 was. Yeah, I know, I was going to be seated 3D.

So I board, take a seat in 3D and watch Pax#1 come down the aisle with Pax#2 who was originally seated row 27. Says Pax#1 "oh, why don't you just sit here in row 3?" (...and we can continue our loud conversation). Which he does, nuking our Platinum shadow. And he was a lanky lad, his shoulders protruding into my seat. Yeah, whatever, I know I didn't pay for 3E either. But with the loud conversation and the feet planted firmly on the bulkhead, I retreated to Row 4. Not the biggest deal in the world of course, but I hate the feet-on-things thing. It's gross.

The feet on bulkheads thing is a whole other beast (similar to seat reclining). I'm sure there's a thread on here about it, but there are quite a few - especially tall people - who will take deep issue with your criticism of feet on bulkheads.

(Not me, as I don't put my feet up on bulkheads)

I cannot understand why they have to behavior that way...Seriously remove shoes knowing that they have smelly feet and pushing legs against the seat in front are really ignoring. I did came across during a QF flight from SYD to SIN that a passenger complained about smell (smelly feet) from the passenger in front of her to the attendant. The guy was asleep so cannot move him with the cabin almost full. The attendant has no choice but keep spray air refresher through out the whole flight below his seat.

ThreadJack... during CNY, I remember reading people in China going home to home county there doing bizzo in their pants, wearing adult nappies or diapers do they can keep their spot on the train.

So I'm on VA741 up to OOL today. Four of us in row 3, middle seats empty. All well dressed (for an OOL flight), quiet, and seem to know the drill. All vaguely promising for a half decent flight.

We push back and this bozo in 3C, he takes his pretend Gucci loafers off, and bare feets it all the way up.

I suppose I should be grateful he didn't break out the nail clippers or perform an inflight pedicure.

Maybe I should be wearing my "fake" crocs onto the flight I have coming up this weekend.
It will be a VA flight, ADL - SYD (turnaround) QF SYD-MEL (o/night) QF MEL-ADL.

What do you expect when airfares are as cheap as bus fares?

I guess it's all just a trend. Acting and dressing slovenly in public has been around for a while (grunge anyone?) so I suppose after so many years, it's become more mainstream. My most recent VA flight had two "ladies" who used the row 3 bulkhead in a BSI as a footrest (one of them the whole flight). Those of you who know row 3 also know there is oodles of leg room and a recess at foot level and I confess to thinking to myself that for them to sit that way must be uncomfortable......so why do it? Habit? A desire to be seen? Anti-establishment? Trying to draw a response or argument? Buggered if I know. Odd people.
