Some months ago when SG we put in a request for upgrade to J from Y+. Now the status is about to improve to WP so the query is whether we should leave the request as is (SG and 9 months request) or WP with 5 months request. The flight is Syd - HK and day time flight. When WP confirmed I'll improve the Y+ seats to exit. Tx!

I would have thought your status would just be automatically picked up by QF at the time they dish out the UPGs just before flight time.

That may be simpler and fairer? :p. I know length of request comes into it but not sure how it all played out.

Does length of request have a bearing? I thought it was all down to status.

I think it's a case of all being equal (status) then length comes into it. So I guess the query is whether the status at time of booking impact on length of request when status improves. Nope. That's not it either.

Hmm. An example.

2WP current requests. One asks for upgrade when WP six months out. The other asks when SG 10 months out but five months out becomes WP. Which length counts? :p

This has been discussed in the past, but I can't find link now. I believe there are a few factors that come into it, including the passenger's own 'revenue factor' (or whatever it is that serfty knows off by heart). I think length of request would have low weight.

As the upgrades aren't decided until a week or so out (for the highest statuses), as long as you had WP by then, I think that would stand you in good stead and the fact that the original request was some time ago, largely irrelevant.

I believe the PCV is what determines the order of processing the upgrade requests.

You may be Gold but high PCV. Or a Platinum with a low PCV.

PCV is the Perceived Customer Value or some like to refer to it as Proactive Onload.

As per posts, PCV is the most likely differentiator within status levels.

Length of request was officially documented until May 25th 2005, after which for all intents and purposes it's use went the way of the dodo.
