Hi,
i joined AFF today after sitting on a flight yesterday where a fellow member told me about this forum and the concept of status runs. I was intrigued by the concept and after a quick look on the forum this morning I was hooked and joined up straight away.

I have had a good look at a few recent postings and a lot of it makes sense and some of it doesn't - yet. I'm still pretty fresh at all of this but I love to travel and I love a challenge.

Currently I am silver status and want to shoot that to gold and get close to platinum if I can.

Right now I have a return trip booked to the USA with QF paid in PE with an upgrade request pending for Business. I am on the A380 arriving in LAX.

This is pure holiday and I am in the USA for 7 weeks. I haven't started to plan anything g else but would love to fit in one or two. Solid status runs while I am there.

What advice would the seasoned professionals at this give to a youngster like me? I am keen to do the hard work to track it all down and make the bookings etc, I just need a few pointers and ideas so I don't make any disastrous mistakes. For example:

- what sites to look at?
- what sites to book from?
- tricks and tips?
- any well known/popular status runs?

Im not sure if I'm asking too much here. I couldn't find where this type of "starter pack" info is already posted in the forum, so my apologies if it is - just point me to it.

Cheers,
KT.
