The purpose of my trip is simply for sc's. I arrive in Akl mid afternoon & depart early am the next morning. I'm also going back the following fortnight for 3 days, purpose again sc's & also short holiday.

when I'm asked for purpose of trip 1, I would say for sc's, would they understand what I'm on about. I have visions of being taken to windowless room & being on their border control show.

Has anyone just did an overnight other than for work, family event, etc, answers that may sound 'normal' to immigration?

TIA

Just say you are there to watch a rugby game - works when we fly in for less than 24hrs for that exact reason

We also flew in once to see a movie (Hobbit movie) - no windowless room interrogation but some weird looks.

Using the word "Rugby" in any travel declaration will be completelyunderstood by any NZ border official

Just say you are going to dinner.

Even if you say the reason for your trip is to collect airline miles/points for status they wouldn't bat an eyelid.

I'd be in heaps of trouble if I did mention rugby, have no clue, does having a Canterbury shirt count?

Maybe a stupid question but why do you have to stay the night? Doesn't it just increase the cost of your status credits? You're not allowed to just come straight back on the next flight the same day?

That was my original thought, for some reason wasn't able to work out if my flt from Bne turned right around. Also unsure if I had to go back through immigration. Just one of life's adventures, hopefully not in a windowless room, lol

I've been to Auckland for a holiday where I landed in the dark and left in the dark next morning. I think you need to modify the question slightly. If, not when, you get asked the purpose of the trip. Just tick holiday on the card and be done with it. I doubt anyone will even ask.

I did SYD-AKL-SYD on LA800/801 a few weeks ago. When asked I jut said "cheap status credit run". The guy just smiled and said OK.

Who you flying with? Flights?

Some flights arrive late afternoon or evening and it is too risky to return back the same night.

Thanks for that, flying qf tsv-Bne then qf123 Bne-akl, next day qf124 akl--Bne; then Bne-tsv. I hope I get that guy.
