Status points on stays paid with points?

Hi all,

Any ALL gurus know if stays paid for with points (or part points) earn any status credits? Or is it a matter of status credits only on the cash component?

I'm within a whisker of retaining platinum with planned travel this year, so every little bit helps.

I'm not sure where I read this but I believe part paid stays do count towards status nights, but fully comped do not unless incidentals are charged to the room. Others may know more.

Thanks, can't find anything in T&C's to clearly explain how this works.

I have a stay this week that is part paid with points (non-work related so makes sense to redeem). I'll feed back once I see what is in the account.

Are you after status “nights” or “points” to retain Plat? Pretty sure part payment you’ll get the status nights, if not status points also. Should work similar to say a QF revenue flight using P&P. I have a vague recollection of being diddled on earning some “reward” points on a P+P stay but that could have been a specific hotel glitch.

It is in the Ts&Cs somewhere… I went looking but could only get to summary info.

Recently, they introduced the ability to use partial points to settle the bill at checkin/out (the usual 2000 pts = €40) - obviously on non-prepaid rates but you’d expect to still earn status nights/points.

I've always qualified based on status points. If based on nights, I would usually only get to gold, which is barely worth bothering for with ALL.

Feeding back, the night counts as a stay for the purposes of nights qualification, but nothing on the spend, which is fair enough.
