I booked flights on the 20th Feb but only received advice of double status points offer on 21st (and registered immediately). Will I get the double points? On line chat was evasive and wouldn't give a clear answer.

Probably not is the disappointing answer. You need to have registered prior to the bookings. If its any solace I made a big booking in J just a few before also.

you could always cancel, lose the cancellation fees and rebook in the booking period, but that's a personal choice.

Hi, If you booked your flights without registering for the DSC promo, then you won't be getting double SC's.

If the booking you did on the 20th is a FLEX ticket, you can call the customer care and ask them to cancel and rebook - so that you quality for the double status (given that you've registered already)

If the booking is not a FLEX ticket, you can still request for a fee-free cancellation, given that it's not been (or only a little over) 24 hours. Most cases the customer care will understand and provide a fee-free cancellation

As a thumb rule, any tickets booked before the registering for the promo does not qualify for the promo benefits :)

do let us know how you go

Cheers,
Ade

You might be able to get the points for your flight but not the DSC offer unless registered prior to booking the tickets. Irrespective of FF partner , it is always mandatory to register for any offer before making any booking.

Arrgh! I booked flights minutes before finding out and registering for this. Was hoping it was going to go through anyway but I guess not.

There is always a next time :)

I always check the offers page before booking tickets and or logon here to see if we are missing to get updates on offers.

If you have booked flights minutes before - you can always call up the customer service and ask the ticket to be cancelled. There is a sort of 24 hour rule before the route gets ticketed. Call Qantas CC now and quote your booking reference. That should do the trick

Also, register for the DSC before calling them. That way you can ask the agent to make the booking over the phone as well. Ask if there is a booking fee levied.

Good luck.

Ade

Did you book directly on Qantas website or with an OTA ? If it's Amex or any other OTA to book tickets it's a pain to have something cancelled/updated.

No I always book direct with Qantas, so if I'm willing to endure some "phone pain" I may just have a chance :D

Thanks for that Ade. I phoned FF and after a very long wait spoke to a young woman who initially kept referring to a previous FF points offer but eventually I managed to get her to check the Status Points situation and she did some research and came back to say that as long as the registration was within the advertised period and the booking was in the same period the offer would hold. Tentatively then it sounds okay but I guess I'll believe it when I see it. I did have a bit of a feeling that she was just keen to get me off the phone. Thanks again.

I did have a bit of a feeling that she was just keen to get me off the phone.

I get that too, very often, when the call gets routed to an overseas call center. They are completely unaware of QF policies and often times give you partially correct or incorrect information. I was once told that I can't select seat 60H on a A380 because I'm only a Platinum member and that seat is reserved to elite passengers :) (Granted, P1 is more elite than Platinum, but, you know what I mean)

He might be right, but, hey, what do I know? I'm only a lowly QF Platinum frequent flyer, who sits on set 60H every time I set foot in a A380 :) And when this happened, I was doing SYD-SIN like 4 times a month

So I did what everyone does, HUCA, a lovely lady from the Australian CC, helped me select 60H :)
