Just called them - they will do it for an extra $265 +$74 changing fee.

Tiger: $156.00
Cathay: $419.00
Qantas: $339.00

TOTAL $914.00 for 145 SC

Feeling like I am getting totally ripped off here!! The usual problem one encounters when dealing with QF!!!

Fares from SIN-PER on the QF website are $376AU for the date I want. I have to go through the QF AU call centre to change my Darwin booking to this leg. They want:

$365 I have already paid, plus $239.86 to come to a total of $604.86 plus $74 booking fee. Sucks!!! I guess I could change my Darwin fare to a later domestic trip and just go Tiger return PER-SIN-PER...

A bit more 'startling' research!!!

Jetstar SIN-PER $188.85SG inc taxes of $40.8SG
Qantas SIN-PER virtually the same time 25000points plus $161.25AU taxes!!

I am guessing QF still charge a fuel surcharge where as Jetstar have dropped their's? Amazing disparity in all of these prices!!

Do not make the booking with QF over the phone. You would be better off if you booked PER-SIN on TR, then SIN-BKK return on CX and the return SIN-PER from the QF Singapore website or even SIN-PER on TR again.

Cancel your existing PER-DRW-PER booking and the credit can be used at a later date. It will cost only a $38.50 cancellation fee, or $77 if you have 2 separate bookings, that will be applied when you make the new booking.

I congratulate JohnK on his magna cough laude diploma after completing his course on dealing with QF ticketing :mrgreen:

I could not have said it better.

John - Will do, thanks for the advice. The Darwin booking was made with a QF voucher - hopefully they will still let me cancel it!!

Normally when cancelling a domestic trip the credit can only be used for another domestic trip, not international.

I have cancelled domestic flights and used the combined credit value from several different bookings into interntional flights.

If you cancel an online booking the 'credit' is held.

You can rebook using that credit online for one-way or return flights from Austrlain airports. You cannot use this credit online to make a new with multi-segment booking.

Ah, I must have read it incorrectly then  that being said though, that was what the lady on the phone told me. Hmm! Never trust what you're told on the phone!

I too need some ideas on how to get more status credits. I have had Gold level for 3 years, and last year just scraped in after QF invited me to provide a schedule of travel plans for this year. Although I did follow through on virtually all the proposed travel, I am still short about 120 SC to retain Gold, largely due to the fact that I am travelling discount economy. My Gold card expires end of Sept 2009, so I need 120 SC by then! Somehow I don't imagine QF will be generous again and invite me to submit my travel plan for next year -- although maybe I will get lucky. But just in case I don't, can anyone suggest some ideas for getting those extra 120 SC in time?

Thanks
Eagle

It really does depend on where you live ...

e.g. SYD-CBR-SYD in J will earn 80 SC's and costs from $660.
