Gold
Gooday all,

I thought I saw this mentioned somewhere, but for some reason can't find it anywhere. I imagine there are many in my situation however. I have gold status with QF expiring in Feb 2022, and I'm located in the UK.

Travel over the next 12 months is uncertain at the very best, particularly for us here in the UK. Furthermore, with the hard-line stance of the Australian government, the prospect of visiting Australia and taking the 4 required QF metal flights this year is fading pretty quickly.

Does anyone know if QF is considering status extensions again? I actually think they were generous with the first lot, which I really appreciated, however, the situation is arguably worse now than March 2020. I know travel in Australia domestically has come back to about 50% of previous levels, but that doesn't help us.

Secondly, are there any current provisions for overseas residents with regards to being credited extra status credits over the next few months?

Thanks

For overseas members, Qantas was giving another 12 months extension. Australian residents are receiving boosts and 50% bonus SC. As long as your registered address with QF is overseas, you’ll be right. Check your digital card after your anniversary date. That information is in the second paragraph of the link provided by oz_mark above.

Only for year ends to December 2021. For February 2022 year ends, there haven’t been any further extensions announced yet.

My apologies. I read it again more carefully. Overseas residents with anniversaries ending Jan and Feb are currently being treated the same as us locals: current expiry 2022, a gift of 50% status credits and perhaps some SC rollover. However that might change later in the year if international travel is still unlikely.
Just one long distance return flight in J could be enough to retain status then.

Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone has heard of any updates for overseas members. I have received 50% status credits and no SC rollover. I emailed QF about this and said that I'm in London and I literally cannot fly anywhere. Even flying to Manchester is illegal now. I have absolutely no idea when I can fly again out of the UK - everything has been pointing to no time soon. Getting to Australia is another impossibility at the moment for those of us based here in the UK - unless we want to be stuck in a hotel for 2 weeks along with a 3k cost.

The response I got said "your concern has been noted and we have no updates yet".

Surely, QF by now would do something for us? I cannot requalify for gold if I can't get to Oz by Jan 2022 - and there is very little chance that will happen. If we think about it realistically, it'll be almost impossible to travel again to Oz this year, and we have no idea when travel will open up there again. This is on top of the travel ban here in the UK that seems like it will last throughout the summer.

Is there anything I can do? This is pretty frustrating, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Hold in there. I reckon late in the year Qantas will have plans. Try not to stress over it. (Mind, you have not said when your anniversary date is?)

It depends on when your membership anniversary is.

What new status support is Qantas providing?
Eligible Qantas Frequent Flyers who reside outside of Australia or New Zealand who have a status end date between March 2021 and December 2021 (inclusive) and are unable to achieve the Status Credits needed to retain their status, will receive a 12-month status extension extension.

If you are in January 2022, then there is nothing at the moment.

Sorry - I didn't mention it - my anniversary date is end of Feb.

Hi All, now that borders are basically shut indefinitely, surely Qantas will be extending status for overseas residents? There is literally no way for me to get on a Qantas flight anytime soon - at least a couple of years.

I would think Qantas will look at this later in the year, and take into account the situation at the time.

Border shut? Nah, still happy to solicit interest free loans from sell flights to customers starting in October.

Likewise I would expect that Qantas will look at things later in the year and consider if they need to do anything then. In their previous action they have taken account of different challenges facing those overseas residents (e.g. not requiring one QF flight to be booked), so I would be hopeful that those of us overseas will not be forgotten.
