Status Credits [Travelling VA]

I new to this but determined to amass some points this year, I'm just wondering the best way to get status credits as without those my points will not be as much use.

concentrating on Virgin at the moment and would like to get to at least silver this year !

You can earn VA status credits with Coles FlyBuys. Bearing in mind that you also need sectors flown with status credits to get flyer status.

Are not all status credits the same ? I just thought I had to get status credits to get up to silver etc ?

All SCs are created equal in Velocity. It is just that there is a requirement to fly 2 eligible VA sectors to gain silver.

Im talking Velocity, don't have much experience with Qantas.

Think of it as three buckets.

Status credits that expire every 12mths. Sectors flown and points.

You need a min set number of status credits PLUS sectors flown to gain or maintain flyer status.

You can have 1000 status credits but without sectors flown on VA marketed flights, you won't earn flyer status silver, gold or Platinum.

Are you travelling with someone? Will they be pooling their points and status credits to you?

So I think I have 2 eligible flight sectors, just need to ramp up my status credits. My husband is pooled with me but doesn't normally fly.
