I need 60 status credits to make it to Silver. Have 11 days to do it. I live between Gold Coast and Brisbane airports. I’m new at this. Any suggestions?

Honestly.. the value you would get from Silver for the expense to achieve it.. it probably is not worth it in my view.

Specially given the limited time by the end of the month you'd ave to spend more money etc.

However if you want to, I would suggest a flex Economy fare between OOL-MELr/t as the easiest. Each sector will get 30 SC. That would be around $351 e.w based on a Feb 29 trip that I looked up.

going OOL or BNE-SYD won't be enough as they do not earn enough SC.

I do not really know that this is very good value to achieve Silver.

There might be an option out of BNE to say TSV or CNS (or OOL-SYD-CNS for ex) and back that may be an option also, but I did not bother looking up prices.

Are you going to be travelling enough in the next year to hit Gold? Yes, I meant Gold. In which Case I wouldn't bother spending extra money for Silver.

Well the answer to that is I have no idea how much travel I need to reach Gold. I suspect not. Have a trip to India booked for May via Singapore.

Jetstar have some cheap fares ranging from around $59-$95 one way BNE to CNS which depart within the next 11 days.

If you also purchase the Max bundle ($85 extra per flight), you will earn status credits at the Flexible Economy rate. Between Brisbane and Cairns this is 30 status credits one way, or 60 return.

Thank you so much. Looking in to it.

I understand the allure of getting that piece of plastic even if it's only silver. (I was in the same boat / plane for many years).

I might have considered an SC run for prehaps 20SCs but 60 becomes a pretty tall order. I'd save your money and get yourself a Qantas Club (QP) membership instead.

The benefits of a QP membership are far greater than the benefits of Silver status.

Edit: plus assuming your India trip is on QF, a QP membership will make that trip a whole lot nicer, esp if your flying down the back of the bus.

I’m already a Qantas club member, lifetime and I don’t fly at the back of the bus anymore. I’m really wondering if any of this is worth it! Thanks for your reply.

At this point in time, you have to fly to earn QF SC.
In the past, there was the opportunity to earn QF SC with credit cards, but haven't seen this for a while now.
Having QP life time is good, because you do get lounge entry, and if there are no QP, there is the QF J lounge as an option, esp travelling internationally.
I did in the past 5 odd years, also pay the annual QP fee, and was QP for about 4 years, (now dropped), got up to QF SG too, when EK flew Au - NZ, it was easy to retain, but now I am back to QP NB, but do pay J Au - NZ nowadays, or vv.
QF PS is not much benefit, only one entry to the QP a year, but you already have QP life time membership, so its a moot point.
With QF you have building up your life time SC anyway, will count towards your QF life time SC balance anyway, so its good in the long run.
QF PS by itself, not a lot of benefits, don't think you get premium check in even ***(EDIT) just had a looksee, as QP PS, you do get premium check in flying QF internationally***, but you say you don't fly at the back of the QF bus anyway, so you fly subclass of J (?), which gives you premium check in.
And flying QF subclass J gives you lounge access anyway.

Yes Qclub gets me extra baggage and premium checkin and my trip to India is Business so from what everyone tells me it’s a waste of time chasing silver. I got lifetime membership way back when they were offering it to people when they turned 60. Cost me $2000 but boy have I reaped the benefits. Thank you so much everybody For your advice.

You probably should have lead with the facts that you're a QC member and fly paid J tbh :)

As you've figured out.. Silver is less than worth it in your situation. Even Gold (as pointed out above) except for benefits on oneworld partners and increased access to award and upgrade seats.

The increased access would be worth something to me but I’ve decided that, all in all, it’s not worth the bother or expense. Sorry for misleading you. And thanks for your input.

You didn't mislead, you just surprised us, that's all. If you fly in J, you have all the perks of Gold anyhow without having to do all the travelling required for status!

Yeah it's all good. I was definitely surprised too :)

Also welcome to AFF!
