It's easy to understand why the location seems questionable. If this were to be an upmarket hotel such Sofitel (proposed for Currie St), Westin, Sheraton etc, the location wouldn't suit very well at all. Aloft seems to target a different demographic and this part of the city is under a huge transformation and lots of new developments planned or due to start construction soon.
The site is already under construction with stage 1 of the New Mayfield development.

I have left a few more I know of that are either under construction, approved or proposed.
The purpose of this post is many people are not aware of what is happening in Adelaide. A lot is changing in the south and the west sides of the city and in many ways, the west and the south ends of the city is a blank canvas for the future.
I see this hotel as a perfect fit for the area, funky, edgy and modern without being mainstream...
Exciting times.
Sorry if I have gotten carried away guys..
