Ryanair pledges $6 standing-room-only fares, but some smell a hoax.

Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair is at it again. The airline -- the same one that keeps promising to introduce the pay toilet now says it's working on a "standing-room-only" vertical seating section in which seats would cost as little as £4 -- or roughly $6.

The London Telegraph reports Ryanair is planning to introduce "a standing area" with "vertical seats" on its jets. Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary tells the paper "we've been looking at … taking out the last 10 rows of seats so we will have 15 rows of seats and the equivalent of 10 rows of standing area."

The floor based compartment idea would of course be not as high as the overhead lockers.

This appears to be about the only one of the many suggested positives that I can see to be useful :!: :rolleyes:

The USA Today article is as usual a bit off the mark but I really believe that the hoax angle is just that, and that this will never actually grow legs. (pun intended)
