I am sure these questions have been asked and answered elsewhere but now I can't find the answers, so I'm starting a separate thread for this question, and hope some kind people will chime in with their experiences.

I currently have a paid Accor Plus subscription that provides me with 20 bonus nights a year. My accor plus subscription year ends 30 June 2025.

I was lucky enough to get Platinum status virtually gifted to me last year (20 Accor Plus nights, plus a credit 30 nights for 3 night stay), and have really enjoyed the extra perks. I will be doing quite a bit of travel this year, but it's likely to only amount to about 48-50 nights (counting my 20 bonus nights for Accor Plus), which is not enough to retain. It is worth it to me to retain as I will also be doing quite a bit of travel in 2026.

So in reading the threads on here, I seem to have the options of:
  • a mattress run or booking the cheapest possible room in my home city and then popping in and out during the "stay" (looks to be the most expensive option)
  • booking "executive" rooms when I travel to get lounge and other access (looks to be the second most expensive)
  • trying to stack benefits on paid cards (which looks the cheapest, if it will work).
I am looking now at the paid Voyageur subscription EUR199 that provides 20 bonus nights a year or the IBIS card EUR99, that provides 10 bonus nights and wondering if I take one of these cards, and maintain my Accor Plus, whether both lots of bonus nights will be awarded.

So, have you done this? How did it work? Any other options I could look at to retain platinum? When would be the best time to take the additional paid membership?

Other info:
I qualified for platinum in September 2024, so believe that I should have this status until December 2025???
I find this extremely confusingly worded on the Accor web site, and also my app says I have platinum until 30 June 2025 - but I assume that is only because that is my renewal date. Otherwise I would only have the status for 9 months (Septmeber 2024 to June 2025), which does not seem right. Can anyone confirm for me?

According to status will be good until end of 2025, at the moment it shows the end of your A+ year. After twenty odd years I ditched Accor plus because it doesn’t allow member ship with other paid programs. You can sign up under a different email address and get the accounts merged, and they were meant to have the Accor plus only restriction removed last year but talking to my contacts it’s still in place for now.

Your status will be reassessed at 30 June, as it currently aligns with your Accor Plus year.

If you do not renew Accor Plus, the status will go to the end of the year.

If you do renew your Accor Plus membership, your status will extend to 30 June 2026, given you achieved Platinum last calendar year.

Worth noting that on-time renewals have been granted an extra 10 nights (so 30 in total) this year, so you may not have to do anything.

Thanks @oz_mark and @markis10 for the prompt and helpful replies!

@oz_mark, that sounds promising, as I will renew my Accor Plus - I get very good value from the dining discount when I travel in the Asia Pacific region, and sometimes it has even worked in the Middle East! I ask them, they say no, not recognised, but we will match the discount...then of course, because it is the Middle East, they do not do this every time, not even in the same hotel - seems to depend who you ask really 😆

Any other options I could look at to retain platinum?

Look at ALL Signature.

You effectively prepay credit (through buying ALL points) to use on Accor stays and they give you 85% of the status points to reach Platinum drip fed through the year. Then you don't need to worry about nights again.

You can hold memberships of both Accor Plus and ALL Signature, you get a 20-30% discount when buying the points, and you use the points to book Accor Plus rates. It's an extremely compelling combo.

Looks interesting. What currency is R$? What level of membership did you take?

I’ve tried the different combos and my current one to keep Platinum is Accor Plus and Accor China which you can also stack with status nights.

So having started to look into it, @sudoer, it seems like a very good deal given that I will be well able to spend the "pre-purchased" points over the next little while - and plus there is an "up to 15% discount offer" running at the moment.

Do you have any advice for me as to the best time of year month wise to start an annual subscription, or doesn't it matter much as the points arrive in monthly chunks?

It's brazilian real

The other option of course is fiddling around with WeChat and getting Accor China subscription. You can get the +20night version or +30 night version on top of Accor Plus regularly. Comes with 1 /2 free nights in HK/Macau/Mainland. Bunch of discount vouchers, discount spa vouchers, upgrade vouchers and discount dining/breakfast vouchers.

They usually do 15% off for Black Friday for a few weeks that runs into early Dec. If you buy in those first few days of Dec you'll get 12 months worth of points perfectly aligned with the calendar year at a discounted price.

They don't run any other predictable discounts though the year.

How many status points are you currently sitting on, and when is your membership anniversary?
