They get around this a few ways, most times they offer a balance transfer at 0% for x months to entice you to stay. !

Agree, funny how many people think they are being generous when they give BTs, the reality is they want to lock you in (and plenty forget then get charged the exorbitant interest at the end of the BT term).

Anyone know how the birthday works? and if it pays pts on our favorite common client?

I don't know for sure but the way I read it is that on your birthday they see how many points you earned in the last 12 months, and give you 10% of that extra. So if you earned 50k in the last year, you get 5k bonus points.

That's the way I read it too
Mine is coming up in a few months, I will report back

If you are an existing St George customer with significant savings with the bank , is there any chance of having the annual fee reduced or waived :?:

plenty....if you don't take the points

Has anyone else had issues with the applying online using Firefox? I've tested on two different computers with the latest update of Firefox and get
Secure Connection Failed

Do St George allow online ID verification and pay slip verification?

Also since they are owned by Westpac, are they like Westpac in that they make you collect the card at the branch?

Not too sure about online ID verification as I am already a customer of theirs and most of my details were prefilled.
Payslip was able to be emailed in (or faxed).

You get a choice to either pickup from a branch or be sent to your home address.

I'm current St Ggeorge (mortgage) customer,so no id or payslips needed, and card mailed out.

Also just got WBC Altitude Black (60k pts,$395pa - not the cheapest, but 60k in the bank), no payslips needed, but need to go branch for id + card

Having to visit a branch is deal breaker for me due to my travel patterns.

Citi now have 50k signup bonus for $348 - don't recall having to present myself for any of their cards, if you don't already have it

Applied late yesterday, emailed payslips etc through this morning and confirmation of approval this afternoon. So far painless easy points.

Anyone had experience with balance transfer with them?

Card received Monday activated Monday and balance transfer initiated Tuesday morning, with the money being debited yesterday morning as well, however hasn't reached my ANZ card yet.

I did a BT with Westpac (who own St George??) recently from an ANZ card. Same scenario. The available balance was reduced immediately after the BT was approved, but it only took a couple of days for the transaction to show up on my ANZ account, so I wouldn't be worried yet.
