I have found a great price for J class BKK-FCO with a stopover in Colombo on Srilankan Air in late August but have several questions. We are flying one way as cruising from Seattle to Sydney. My idea is to use QFF points to BKK and FCO - YVR.
My questions
1. Hotel industry says unwise for SriLankan Airlines to pull out of Europe | The Sunday Times Sri Lanka If Srilankan pulls out of Rome, what would be some likely scenarios. Would they make sure our J Class tickets are honoured?
2. What points would we earn. The Qantas earning calculator won't work for that route.
3. If all goes to plan, we will be on A300-200 planes - three out of the four configurations show flat beds - what is the probability of our Colombo-FCO leg being standard versus flat beds?

Thanks

Honestly I'm not sure how they would reaccommodate you if they pulled out of Rome before your trip. Perhaps fly you via London, or on a partner airline is my guess. That or refund your ticket.

Is flying into LHR an option instead? They are not likely to withdraw from that route any time soon, and you'll get the new A330-300 with great flat bed seats.

(FWIW I believe you'd be likely to get a flat bed configuration on the A332 to Rome anyway)

Just a follow up - the flights from Colombo to Rome have been cancelled as at May 2016. UL has offered us the choice of flying via Qatar or Abu Dhabi with onward flights with Qatar or Ethihad; or via London with onward flights on BA or Alitalia. Unfortunately all require an overnight stay. Still very happy with the alternatives.

We got notified today about our flight from Rome to Colombo said would we mind flying to FCO on Alitalia, I wrote back asking what about our points? Sri Lankan replied within minutes saying" we could fly from Rome to LHR with BA, then onto Colombo as normal with Sri Lankan, have an extra hour in LHR than we would have iN FCO, Sooo still very happy with the outcome considering the price we paid.
