Summary is I used to be QFF but lost interest after some recent rubbish customer service approaching expiry. Didn’t bother with the recent DSC offer because flights were insane $$$

im flying SYD-MSY return in November ANA is coming out with the best option (sadly no The Room segments). I’m also flying ADL-ARN in February.

From calculations it looks like I’ll earn nearly 35,000 premium points with ANA on that first segment alone putting me to *A silver and then the trip in Feb even with a partner airline will get me easily to *A and ANA gold.

I’m not sure if KF will get me the same? I understand they calculate purely on actual miles flown for their tier qualifiers? ANA seems to have a cabin bonus of 25% for business.

given Ana is soon to partner with VA, does it make more sense to go with them straight up? I’ll have till November to see how that partnership unfolds with benefits I suppose? The status I achieve will then dictate my travel plans for the following year. - I fly with work, combo of reimbursed and tax deducted flight prices.

thanks!

edit: the one thing I’ll add is that my SQ account shows I have to earn 25,000 points before march 2024…so obviously I’ve benefitted from their COVID status extension which gives me an extra 12m to get to a higher FF tier with them

Personally I don't think status with airlines offers many (any?) benefits worth staying with them the whole year, especially if you fly business class already?

With points accrual... will you be able to transfer miles between ANA and VA when they partner up? That's not the case with most partners, in which case you might be better off crediting to KF (and then transferring to VA later if required). Unless you already have a stack of points with ANA.
