SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Here's the refreshment choices for the early flight out of SYD, they look pretty good, more interesting than a continental breakfast, so I vote for no change.

They sound good, but the reality is a basic sandwich :(

No time for the lounge at 5:00 in the morning. We are rolling out of bed across the room and dumping the bags 1 hour before the flight leaves and strraight to the gate.

Try getting kids to eat that at 7am :(

It's sad that in business class, we have to bring our own breakfast for the kids, fruit, crossiants etc

Also because it's "medium haul" flight, hardly any other snacks are loaded

The crew felt so bad for us last time.

Yeah, fair enough, 5:55am is early. Ex SYD is 7:25am.

During the AU Winter it's 5:55am and Summer it's 07:00am which is almost OK. I only book these flights as they come out thousands of $$ cheaper than the later departures and they get us into the EU in the evening, which we prefer.

We've never done a 5:55am departure, but it's a 4:30am wakeup for us :(

SQs annual mid year travel sale is back. With one big caveat though - this time, Europe is completely excluded from the sale. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out why.

For reference, this time last year for the equivalent sale, not only was Europe included in the sale, but Business Class was too - I found Melbourne to Amsterdam return in Business both ways, for $7.5k. Don’t think we’ll be seeing anything like that again.

As for new MEL SKL - don’t hold your breath - only progress so far is that demolition of old facility has commenced - it will be a miracle if it is open by end 2026 - but who knows

It's moving location as well, right? Retail is not exactly the same, but there you'd only do defit once you're ready to transfer fixtures to the nearly complete new location. I'd imagine would be similar, so perhaps the new space is reasonably far along?

Either SQ are cost cutting of SQ’s alleged ‘rocket scientist’ Wine Experts are bits of clowns:

Onboard F today:

Do you think they know their is a difference?

Years ago they did as the SV was previously offered in R and F but since Covid no 🤷‍♂️

SQ themselves announced only the other day it will open “by the end of 2026.”

This followed a different newsworthy source earlier claiming it would be “September 2026”. Unless of course SQ does still plan to open it in September and their quoted timeline is if there’s a just in case delay that pushes it back to the Christmas period.

So let’s drill down a little further on this once might airline.

Today I am outbound MEL-SIN in F on 777 238 - yesterday inbound flt for this aircraft was flt 227.

For SQ Suites and First Class - ALL Champs and wines are double uploaded in SIN - that means for ALL R and F sectors the Champs and wines for partner sectors ie in this case 227 and 238 - are uploaded in SIN.

All other alcohol for ALL cabins except for some wines in some outstations are also double uploaded in SIN - but I don’t want to go there now right now.

So yesterday 4 botts Krug were uploaded to 227 which is the allocation for not only outbound sector 227 ex SIN but also for inbound sector 238 ex MEL - pax on 227 clearly were socially excited and knocked over 3 botts Krug leaving only 1 bott Krug for return sector 238 this morn with 4 seats - and as it turned out 4 pax.

I am only pax drinking Krug thank god and I ain’t letting the team down so Krug supply in F now exhausted less than half way through the flt.

Never NEVER in 20years flying point end SQ have I experienced this before - I will 200% make sure IFM highlights this in her report and some serious feedback coming SQs way also 🤷‍♂️

I wonder if only 2 bottles should have been opened on 228 ?

So Krug depleted - Comtes undrinkable - what’s a px supposed to do?

FTR - I have never tasted a NV Champ that I love more than this - it ain’t Krug and I always refer to it as ‘baby Krug’ - but still zero excuse for running out of Krug
