SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Had Rare in the Private Room and on board it was Cristal instead of Krug. Mrscove was impressed with her A380 Suite as it was a surprise.

Grad to hear Rare is back to TPR. When I was there in Dec was told it’s currently poured only in T2 F lounge. Was worth going there just to have few glasses, fantastic drop! I keep missing on Cristal. Was supposed to be poured on SQ345 but swapped with Krug (not that I’m complaining 🙂 ).

Just off a big ol SIN - LDN and then LDN - SIN back again euro trip (Managed to avoid the ME... kinda) - cabin crew were lovely both ways, J is still a really formidable product especially on the A380 - we dropped our friends in it (first time flying J, first time in Europe) and told the purser it was their 10th anniversary - they got a whole spread of cakes, gifts and other bits and bobs it was so lovely.

We also got a tour of Suites - so lovely although if you're flying by yourself for 15 hours, I would feel a bit lonely? I'm obviously not the target audience for it haha.

Now i look forward to potentially a 'J' seat on JQ back to Melbourne this week... sigh haha

Came in yesterday DAD-SIN-MEL. On the 737-8 from Da Nang, service was really good, with attentive communicative crew. One of the couple in front of me was celebrating a birthday and SQ (clearly pre-arranged by the partner) had a little birthday treat for her. It was surprisingly cute, and thankfully without singing. A tray was presented with two pieces of some cake, a card, some Christmas-tree-style lights, and a glass of dry-ice to create a disco mood . The only downside was that once the dry-ice had been dampened, the whole disco mood was a bit more like fog-on-moors, and I wondered if the pax might end up not being able to see each other.

The connection at SIN was a little tighter than I prefer - 1h from disembarkation, given the gates ended up being at pretty much opposite ends of Changi (F35 to C1... could have been worse though, like C26 :P ). It gave me the opportunity to evaluate the official walking-time estimates between sections of terminals shown on the airport map, and I'm happy to report (I'm sure others have as well in other comments/threads) that at a relatively brisk pace, I'd say the walking times are approx half of the stated times (e.g. the length of T3, from transfer A to transfer B, is stated as 11 mins, but was doable briskly in 5min, and less than that if you have "very brisk" or "jog" functions available.😅

Meanwhile, on the overnight flight to MEL I had selected the full chicken satay as the meal and it was really nice having a decent portion, even if the rest of catering on these "sleeper service" flights is subpar - only sweet bread/pastry, no dessert, etc, which I think is an insult for flights that ain't no cheaper.

But none for me - Krug out / Cristal in + a bloody BdB backup - Command a + but oh for the days of 2012 RWT.

And then you get msgs from a smart cough whose name begins with boomy who tells me CX HKG-LHR serving Krug and Rare in F 🤷

Endless arguments about that one or two glasses of champagne… meh - But what’s with that NZ-heavy wine list ? Looks like we get the same on 222 from Syd next month. I was wondering if it’s a 5th freedom flt from UnZud - a kiwi Sav Blanc, a Chardonnay, and a Pinot leavened only by one Bordeaux and a decent Barossa Shiraz. I might choke down the Pinot but everyone knows Sav Blanc isn’t a noble grape. Doesnt cellar, doesn’t improve..,
