SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

heya everyone, i thought i was fairly familiar with plane types and suites etc.

I know its too late, but I have just booked expiring miles, return in J to Japan, whilst i was looking at the flights in both J and F, all planes were A350 or 777,
my undestanding was 777 in F was the older style 4 seats in 1 row, whilst the a380 gets the suites, and as of about 1 year ago, they retired all the old suites, and now everything in a380 is a new suite

TLDR story, ive changed my NRT to Melb flight to one way advantage in F, and the plane is a 777 both legs, so I assume it will be the older 4seats in 1 row style F layout?

Yes, F in the 777 is the one row of 4 layout.
I like the product.

thanks for confirmation,

i did hear that there is no more a380 suites to aus any more?

do you just like it because its a good product or do you feel its on par with a380 new suites?

just from photos it looks like a slightly wider J seat

I think i read on here years ago about the best seats (very subjective)
for a Right handed solo traveller,
better to get a window seat and on the right

but i also recall that the baby seat makes the 11K or 12K seat better or not?
also 19/20k does being near the galley make it better?

or doesnt really make much difference?

A380 suites still coming to Sydney AFAIK.
Also no cramped footwell cubby hole in F on 777

That seat layout looks like the medium haul A350 to me. Bassinet row has more storage but that's about it from memory. Haven't been on it since 2022 as doesn't come to Sydney anymore I think.
Seats are quite narrow compared to normal A350 J

Never tried the new suites, only the old ones.
There's plenty of room, only 4 in the cabin. Very few carriers only have 4 in the F cabin.
Soft product and service is great, like you'd always expect from SQ.

People these days will criticise the lack of doors and lack of privacy, which is unhinged (no pun intended 😂).
If you want privacy, don't take public transport.
Buy (or charter) your own private jet.

After reading some reviews, there are also some flaws with the new suites - ie. the chair and its seating position.

We flew F in both the 777 and the A380 3 weeks ago

777 SIN-DXB - service was impeccable and love this product but I also wouldn't be disappointed on the 777 in J (especially in the bulkhead rows)

A380 SIN-SYD - only flies to SYD now and IMHO, the best F (comparing to EK, JL
& QF)

I did a long haul F one way, and return in J about a year ago, and did a trip report

so I can compare

softproduct for both are excellent, kind of feel F soft is better because there is better opportunity. Eg meal preferences, timing, drink timing, "can you bring me this",. more scope in F, admittedly in J, I dropped my earbud down the gap, and the staff literally tore the seat apart to look for it, that was amazing

Suites was nice, I did hear about the being able to see your neighbour while eating awkkwardness, in my time, I didnt have this issue, either the door was able to be closed, or my neighbour wasnt eating at the same time

i enjoyed the privacy, i feel premium = privacy especially on flights, but I prefer swimming in the public hotel pool rather than my own small pool in my villa (if I had one)

but for me, definitely the suites felt a hell of a lot more premium
