SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Don’t you love how boomy had his beddy-bys made up so he could take a ‘nanna nap’ on a 3hr flt? I am so worried about that boy 👦🙄
access?

Actually I’ve lowered down the bed myself to rest my legs on it while watching TV in the chair (hard to find comfortable position in that chair). At some stage while I went to toilet the FA decided to make the bed properly.

Yeah yeah whatever

Told you and told you new R is hideous - you cannot even recline and watch TV in comfort - I took a bunch of pics on 238 on Jun 19 - I will get around to doing a mini review next weekend hopefully if I get time

OMG - being a RHD I never sit in 1A - 1C is always my go to - but 1D and 1F are a couple traveling together and 1A vacant so of course you do what is decent:

Crew on 25 today are same Crew who brought me up to FRA on Jun 19 before their rotation to JFK - we are like family 🫶

So again first step is to get ride of the ‘rock’:

And replace it with something softer like the pillow from vacant 1F (RHD seat) which I will shortly shift to to eat and drink then my beddy-bys will be made in 1A (can’t have boomy outdoing me with his Capt Snooze impersonations) 👍

R is great, you’re just the biggest whiner. Put the bed down, rest your legs on it and voila, problem solved 👏

Indeed SQ25 from FR pushed back 6mins early today - far cry from the +1hr 20min delay and on Jun 8 which saw us miss connection with 207

Have I mentioned before what a ridiculous connection 207 is for EU flts? Pre Covid 217 always had F cabin - made so much more sense.

Enough about food already. Makes me hungry. Planning now for next year. At our age we don't really want to arrive in Europe at crack of dawn and either have to book an extra night in Hotel or hang around all day before checking in. Except for SQ308 and 318, are there any other SIN to Europe day flights? I cannot think of any.

My favourites too, and a no brainer for me as I’m (in theory) beginning my journey from Singapore.

There’s SQ326 daily to FRA and SQ 332 4x weekly to Paris. I’ve taken 326 three times in last 9 months.

In order of departure 308, 326, 318, 322. Give a take a few minutes these leave at 9am, 11am, 12:30pm and 2pm respectively.

No champagne in Perth J Lounge today, Mumm Marlborough Brut Prestige is the only bubbles on offer.

Pity as there has been Laurent-Perrier stocked in the past.

25 from FRA landed abt 12 mins early so I had over an hour to connect to 207 - we arrived A10 which is a reasonable walk to TPR but checking board 207 is dep C23 - FFS that’s a 25 min walk from TPR - shower 10 min catch up on emails / WeChat etc then at 7:05 it’s out the door again - luckily my chariot was awaiting:

Again 207 having the F cabin to connect for EU morning arrivals is just a joke - more feedback to SQ.

Oh and in TPR I overheard another pax expressing extreme displeasure at the western breakfast offering - which I agree is cough - bring back the eggs Benedict I say - lounge staff overheard his protest and they will refer to management. Feedback again to SQ coming up - boomy will be so proud of me 👍

OK, so back on topic of MEL F lounge, some feedback from my partner, why almost no dessert options, other than the tubs of gelato? Back in January they had Churro's+ chocolate sauce on the menu.

I suggested go for a walk into the J lounge - so he did, and in the J lounge they had 2 cakes, some mango sago and of course the aforementioned churro's. WTF? You have options in the J lounge but expect F lounge guests to know this by ESP and ask for them or go for a wander to the J lounge to get them? Not as if they aren't catering them.

Now seriously are there any greater ‘flogs’ on this planet than ‘celebrity chefs’?

Check the Beef Cheek above - ‘Exclusively created by Matt Moran of Aria Restaurant’ - FFS seriously? This clown is the first human to ever cook beef cheek? Give me a break

And go back a few posts to Menu from FRA - Lafer created ‘White tomato mouse with heirloom tomato salad’ - here it is:

This is nothing more than a blob of pure cough sitting on a few tomato slices - good grief give this clown ‘The Order of Merit’

It was offered on 25 on Jun 8 also - it was cough then and it’s still cough - I asked LSS Janet on 25 if she had tried it - she hadn’t but said she will - she came back with a 3 word response - ‘That is rubbish’ - and then went on to say SQ pay these clowns a fortune - go figure - and I love tomatoes in any shape or form mostly - but not this cough:

Looks like you were exclusively ripped off....

At least he’s bald so he can’t have a ponytail.
It is possible... 🤣

Style over substance
It really comes down to this. Airline marketing inject a lot of hype even hubris. The reality is often a lot more sober.
Once an expectation is created be prepared to overdeliver, if not then lower the marketing hype.

But really, why do people fall for the "celebrity chef" hype?
Matt Moran is hardly ever cooking all the dishes at Aria - its produced by employed nameless/faceless chefs and apprentices.
Ive been to Aria 3 times, each time Moran is not there.
For airlines, dishes are all produced in a commercial kitchen and the celebrity chef has nothing to do with it other than to create a dish for the menu which is then modified to fit into the commercial kitchen production processes and curtailed to fit within a budget. The dish is likely created by faceless/nameless low paid employees at these airline commercial kitchens just following a picture guide.

The tomato salad has 6 pieces of tomatoes - 3 pieces more than the 3 leaf salad of the other celebrity chef. So whats the problem 🤣
