Spoke to Senior MEL Stn staff today and they are exasperated as to every cabin on every flt being virtually 100% full - expect some changes to proposed schedules post 380 disappearance date as current loadings could not be accommodated - must send some feedback on this very matter 👍😎😁

Thank you for posting the passenger count, as always interesting.

Prior to COVID, in 2018, I was on the redeye SQ from MEL to SIN and spoke to a couple of cabin crew. They said, in separate chats, that planes on the route were 'always full.' Allowing for poetic licence, it seems nothing has changed, despite a gradual increase in frequencies.

91.69 per cent of seats were filled on your trip, but much higher in the more expensive seats. I thought that on any transport mode with compulsory seat reservation, up to five per cent of passengers are 'no shows' for a huge variety of reasons, so that makes it even more impressive.

Unless SQ has quietly changed its policy on upgrades - "none" IIRC! - it's probably doing well very financially re that flight, which wasn't on a Friday, or a weekend. It was also not in school holidays, and not pre-Easter or pre-Christmas, although it's the busy season for travel to Europe (rpovided one can afford the accommodation rates in summer).

It's amazing how many more passengers SQ carries on routes to/from Oz where it competes with nonstop QFi flights. Shows the strength of the SWQi brand, notwithstanding constant criticism of the alleged poor design of the J cubby hole.

Anyone know what the following means? It doesn't say what flight disruption means (cancelled flight or change in plane or delayed flight) and I have a connecting SIN-SYD flight.

I think that may be caused by SQ637 being up-gauged to an A380 resulting in possible schedule changes, although it's probably going to be a minor schedule change if anything.

thanks for this, had to google it to see the news. No change in flight times it seems, what am I suppose to do with the booking? just leave it and update my seat choices later?

Good question on SQ FFs Poxbook page:

Banana Benders and Crow Eaters should be asking same question?

Now as for MEL - post Nov daily R / F cabins to and fro drop from 2 to 1 - SYD stays at 3 - YES I have sent feedback to both SQ SIN H/O and MEL Station expressing my extreme displeasure - MEL Station Manager is of same frame of mind and has raised it with H/O. Beggars belief really.

SQ lounges in HKG still closed so when flying F/R they offer Plaza Premium First Class lounge voucher OR $HKD220 to use at one of the many restaurants in the terminal.

Tip #1: If you want to check our Plaza Premium FCL don’t give your voucher at the entrance, just say you didn’t get one and they’ll let you in. The reason for that is you will not want to spend more than 5 minutes in that zoo.

Tip #2: Don't bother with the lounge, instead go to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant and order lobster thermidor pasta :)

I will be BTC for SQ328 SIN-MUC as there are lot more variety in the BTC options from SIN.
Experienced BTC ex SIN recently on SQ279 very happy with the steak and Mrs LP very happy with the lamb rack roast. Though there is a big selection of Asian options, we figured we could sample some of the offerings at the Silverkris lounges in T3 or T2 prior to the flight. Photo of steak dinner attached

My two recent flights had some empty seats.
Unusual sight, particularly for travel after covid.

SQ893 4/6 in R
SQ207 2/4 in F

Also J was only partially occupied.

It could be route specific, HKG travel still recovering and the early flight to MEL doesn’t suit many connections. Also the fact that KF don’t release these seats even in Advatage, adding to their stingy F/R upgrade policy, it means that premium seats on less popular routes / times remain unoccupied.

What's their F/R upgrade policy?

What's their F/R upgrade policy?

Some J pax receive upgrade offers via email or can be requested at the airport on day of departure. Both options are usually very expensive and don’t represent much value to J pax, particularly on shorter routes.

And 8:10 flying time. Some very strong winds. I've been doing that route regularly since 2005 and cannot recall a single time when forecast flight time exceeded 8 hrs (actual might have if ATC delays approaching SIN).

I'm a big fan of Rauzan Segla but the Albert Bichot Corton is also an excellent Burgundy. For those not overly keen on Pinots, this is one that I think will move the needle.

Another very good one SQ currently has on rotation - but not to Australia - is Pichon Longueville Comtesse De Lalande. If you see it on board, I highly recommend giving it a go.

Where SQ F pax can enjoy a delicious pre flt sparkles:

And yet LH F pax in SIN can enjoy:IMG_1937.jpeg
More feedback to SQ again when I get back to MEL 👍

Kinda same variance as the wines I take to OT and what penegal and boomy bring along! 😁😎👍 - it’s ok dudes it’s your companionship I really value 🤥🤮

You should send feedback to LH. I can guarantee it will have at least the same effect as your feedbacks to SQ, or maybe LH will actually make some real improvements who knows…
