SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Yeah not sure about thatā€¦šŸ¤

Iā€™ve sent plenty of feedback on the wine in the last year.

Disappointing to hear. Did they at least offer proper reply?

Back in the days when I was P1 each feedback received a detailed reply for QF, even if not everything got immediately fixed at least my feedbacks had been acknowledged unlike with SQ where all I ever received were generic replies (not surprising since Iā€™m only lowly gold member).

I was told allocation of checkin via kiosks or counters is totally decision of MEL Airport Admin and not by SQ
It's been a little while since I've flown SQ, is there still a counter check in option available when kiosks are in use?

am planning to travel via Thai airways -Bengaluru to Melbourne using krisflyrr miles . I note the taxes are approx A $500 . Also I can save approx A$300 on taxes by booking BLR -BKK through krisflyer and BKK -MEL via air Canada ( both on Thai airways ) . My question is can i check my bags all the way through in BLR ( interline ) and can I travel on 2 tickets via BKK ( Covid related ) ? TIA

Needing some advice as I haven't been on a plane since 2020. I am due to fly out at 8:55am on Friday. What is a good time to arrive at the airport to check-in, claim TRS and enjoy the lounge? are counters open 2 hours before departure?

I would think at least 3 hours before hand.

No need to arrive too early. I flew from SYD last week, 9am departure. Arrived 2 hours beforehand no queues at security, nothing at TRS (had few things to claim). Was also the first one in the Flounge, other pax started to pour in about 80 minutes before departure.

May need to cancel an F reward LAX-NRT-SYD. Before I call and ask, does anyone know the approx fees?
Was booked > July 22 (after change fees were reintroduced).
The tkt says, "For changes ... Service fees for bookings, ticketing and ticket changes may apply"
Thanks
Edit : is there a cheaper way, maybe to change the date?

Surprised to receive email from SQ this morning. They have rebooked wife/daughter and myself onto first flight SIN-BKK tomorrow morning as Scoot flight delayed ~18 hours.

Expedia wouldn't touch booking without change fee.

For a saver award, will cost $75 USD to cancel and redeposit any miles that would not have expired. $25USD to change date/time.

Thanks @dajop, looks like I better just change the date and hope I can make it. It was actually an advantage award. Saver awards seem to be unavailable.

Hi everyone,

Am I planning to do this the best way?

We currently have the following SIA award bookings:
PER ā€“ SIN in business (2 people)
SIN ā€“ IST in premium economy (4 people) &
IST ā€“ MEL in business. (2 people)

For medical reasons I am unable to travel as I have just had open heart surgery and am not allowed to travel.

My plan is to ring SIA and split the SIN ā€“ IST leg into two bookings as 2 people will still travel. (Whatā€™s the best phone number?)

Once the booking is split then complete the SIA Assistance Request Form for my wife and myself to cancel the remaining bookings.

Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.

I can't help you with best number but assuming it is three separate bookings your thinking is correct regarding splitting ticket.
Best of luck for a speedy recovery.

The easy option to split the ticket was the live chat. That combined with a little bit of advice regarding the cancellations I want to make was all very simple and quick.

Disappointed that SYD - SIN - FRA - JFK is (mostly) no longer on A380s, esp for F. Is this a permanent change as far as we know? How to get A380s to NYC?
