SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

T2 KF lounge closed ..and there’s exactly the lounge crowding problem talked about here and elsewhere.

There must be more than 20 late eve flts that go from T2 to India, AG, EAfr, Asia and whose biz/lounge pax might usually go to T2, but who now find themselves limited in choice to KF in T3..

Hi all

I'm flying to Europe in August with SQ. I booked in May and added my Krisflyer frequent flyer number to the booking. I've decided I should instead accumulate points to Velocity. Each time over recent days when I have tried to update the booking to replace my KF number with my Velocity number, I get an error that says: "The frequent flyer number is invalid. Please provide a valid frequent flyer number or present your frequent flyer card at the airport check-in." The number I've been entering is definitely correct.

Any ideas whether this glitch can be overcome before check-in and without a phone call?

Thanks

Geoff.
If all else fails, let the points collect in SQ KF, and then when the transfer of points comes back, transfer the points to VA
I think either AFF/ET a few days ago, there was an article from the CEO of VFF that was to say that points transfers between the 2 would be coming back soon.
Better to collect the points in SQ KF, then you don't have to worry about subclasses and what their earn rates are.
You might loose a few points, as its not 1:1 transfer between SQ KF and VFF, but at least you know you will get the points in SQ KF first.
Hopefully your attempt to add your VFF hasn't wrecked the system.
Edit: I thought you were flying J.
Guess in the end, for both you and Kyle, it might be a try to phone up KF, not that I know anything will happen, positively from the call, but no harm in trying.

Thanks for the tips. Might need a phone call to KF. I'm trying to secure Velocity Gold as it's achievable given my Silver starting point with Velocity (no status at all with SQ/KF).

I just called SQ to change the KF number in the booking to VA at 8:30 AEST because of the issue I mentioned above. Call was picked up within seconds after going through IVR. Although the first agent wasn't able to help, the second agent, which was transferred after about 10-15 seconds, was able to. This was after me trying to use the online chat last night, and giving up after waiting close to an hour without any response from an agent.

On the second problem of trying to link my VA number to the KF profile (error saying VA number already associated with a KF profile which I believe to be an old, expired one), the second agent said because the conversion is suspended (obviously she didn't get the memo about conversion restarting on 19 July 2022), that's why I wasn't able to do it. I didn't push on the issue for now as it's not urgent, but I think they have to do something to break the old link as alluded to by other AFF members.

Update on SQ metal MEL-SIN - from Oct 30 on SQ217/218 will also be operated by 777. So for F bookings ex-MEL will then be SQ228 and SQ218.

At least until March 2023, 350 will still be operating for SQ238 and SQ208.

NOTE: This info supplied by MEL Station - disregard contrary on website.

Well CE I will be down the way at Crowne Plaza which is in the building but up the passage way. I fly to the US next morning.
Where are you going?

Sadly this is correct, and the website has been updated in the last day or two.

I'm flying with the partner and 2 young kids, in Nov, Dec and Jan on 238 (good timings for kids) and was booked on the 777 in J, seats selected on the 777 and now it's changed to the A350 and the seats I have selected have the consoles in the middle.. Perfect for being close to the kids...................

Only a handful of single seats left so we'll make do

Could be worse but the regional A350 J should not be on the MEL route.

Oh and paper menus are back in R/F/J too as of a few days ago!!!!!!!!

Bring back the hot towels, pre departure drink and I'll be happy

Oh and just realised SQ345 Zurich to Singapore is now a 777 instead of the A380 and appears to be the case for all dates moving forward. At least my seats have stuck !

Not sure when it was meant to switch to the A380 but looks like that is not happening now.

At least I still have good seats and I do like the extra wide 777 J

Also makes sense why my travel agent could not get seats in Suites for us

I totally understand that those who haven’t experiences Suites should definitely do so as it is unique but after having flown it a bunch of times I am more than happy to take F over R anytime.

Indeed we have 2 x MEL-SIN-ZRH / ZRH-SIN-MEL all on 777 locked in for Mar and Jun 2023 - soft product identical and IMHO absolutely no advantage wasting time and effort trying to transit via SYD to get 380. ZRH May or may not see 380 back on that route - yes 6 seats v 4 should see marginally more rdpt inventory.

However I would not be holding my breath hoping that R or F Savers will re-appear in numbers - I hope I am wrong on this matter and only time will tell.

My turn on SQ starts Tuesday morning. It will be hello USA next week. Feeling a bit rusty seeing my last SQ flight was March 2020.
Don't smile at the C&BP people at your arrival airport into the US!
Is it true they don't have a sense of humour and best not to have idle chatter with them.
Not that I have been, or faced them.

Reference point for those with pre-revaluation of KF Award bookings - if you are seeking to make simple changes to those bookings like date change then the SQ web site is currently seeking extra points and $s which is not correct - until this problem is rectified you will need call SQ and get an agent to make changes for you at ZERO pts and $s - i had to do this yesterday and it was rectified without question.

Anyone else having trouble recently canceling a redemption booking online? I click the cancel button then the “just a moment we’ll take you there soon” message comes up and then it just goes back to the booking.

I called and got a staff member who from his tone and language seemed extremely uncertain of what he was doing. Wanted me to fill out a cancellation request form.

Surely this can just be cancelled without having to go through all that?

EDIT: it’s from JFK-SIN-BNE with the first sectors waitlisted and SIN-BNE confirmed if that makes any difference.

A second agent telling me to fill out the cancellation request form so have done that even though I suspect that last wrong. Anyone have any idea how long this usually takes to action?
