SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

sorry, shou;ld have been a bit clearer, going to HKG with singapore airlines, and then leaving HKG on emirates

closing time for kris lounge according to google is 11:30pm
and openining time for Emirates lounge is 5am,
im sure I could find 5.5 hours of soemthing to do!

Ah. I think there might be a bit of a snag here. If you are arriving in HKG I don't believe you have lounge access with SQ. That's only a benefit at Singapore airport proper where you can access lounges inbound on presentation of your boarding pass. The same benefit doesn't extend to other ports AFAIK.

oh really!, bummer, thanks fpr the heads up, saved me the head ache, and potentially arguing with the staff, looks like ill have to find a comfy chair to slump for a few hours

interesting policy!

is it possible to use someone else priority pass? as in do you just flash your card, or do they check it against your passport etc?

While this is now off topic for the SQ thread and perhaps better if you ask inthe Hong Kong thread, there are a couple of hotel choices right at HKG (Regal) or Mercure (or is it novotel) at Tung Chung (about 10 mins from the airport). You'll then get a good night's sleep and actually be able to enjoy your emirates flight. you have plent of time to go to a hotel and you otherwise risk being so tired for your EK flight that the difference between 777 and A380 won't even matter :(

They swipe it and you sign
I've found they check against boarding pass the majority of the time
I have a couple of members of family with same initial which has proven handy on a couple of occasions ;)

Can my membership card be used by someone else?
No. The Priority Pass membership card is non-transferable. When you access a lounge, the staff will check that the name on your card matches your boarding pass. "

google helped !:)

Hi all, got a slightly sticky situation here - my search-fu hasn't worked and I haven't come across a thread/post that gives advice... so here goes.

Going to Europe this December, departing MEL on SQ in J. Landing in LHR (after transiting in SIN of course), tottering around various parts of Europe over Christmas/NYE and then mid-second week of Jan departing ZRH on SQ in J, back to MEL, with a 5 hour transit in SIN.

My wife and I would like to make a "side-trip" of sorts to BLR, effectively making the 5 hour transit in SIN a 2 week (give-or-take) stopover, whilst still keeping our bookings ZRH-SIN (same date) and SIN-MEL (shifted forward [/backward??] 2 weeks give-or-take). We'll just have to make separate bookings for the SIN-BLR-SIN sectors (might just get these sectors as cash Y tix, would rather the points for long-haul premium redemptions).

What's the best way to go about doing something like this? All my award bookings so far have been simple MEL/SYD-SIN-xx_ where xx_ is the destination, and the return is something similar, never booked a stopover before.

Anything I should be wary of before contacting KF call centre? Thanks everyone :)

I am not the only one seeing ZERO R Saver availability SYD-SIN-FRA-JFK day after day right out am I?

On another note my new best KF contact EVA is flying the coop late Sept so I am back to square one again - god i hate that.

Oh no that's not good... Has EVA given you another contact that can hopefully provide the same/similar level of service?

What day of the week are you searching for? I've found that I can only get R Saver availability for that route on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday:

No dice for the other days of the week, it's all Advantage.

If you're quick enough and willing, there's 2 x R Savers for Wed 05 Aug:

Good luck!

ill bite, im not a expert, but going by my recent experience, happy to be correcetd

you get a free stopover if you do a return in J/F, otherwise its $100USD per person
you can book online as well as phone, but I found phone easier as the phone lady seemed to understand that a stopover makes things more complicated, and less than 24 hours is not considred a stopover

Thanks tnj. How long was your stopover, and did you add the stopover after making the booking, or was the stopover part of the initial booking?

Ah ok - yes I can now see Mon and Wed for 2 x pax - guess we just follow and hopefully the date we want will appear
Yep, as long as it's a Mon, Tue or Wed you should be fine, as long as you jump on at the moment of release :) I'm sure you're more well-versed in this than I am ;)

I think I saw a ref to stopovers being $1 on Ozb. Didn't really pay much attention and it may only be during the 'frenzy' for the next 3-4 days.

On that route which I have done a few times in F, I tend to only see Wednesday as a Saver fare on the day of release. The Advantage is much more open. Others have been lucky getting other days in F I noticed on here.

Yup - I got SYD-SIN-(FRA)-JFK in June next year on a Monday, at point of release. Have to be quick, it's one of the most popular routes (only route into the US in Suites, so no surprises).

and another quick Q
Seat Selection on J for 777-300ER

Probably not much of a muchness, but which seat is the best for solo
for some reason all the seat layout maps on various sites seem to be different to what seat selection is showing
im Right handed so I was thinking single seat on the right, so 11K-23K
however , there seems to be 3 rows at the front segregated 11, 12, 14, but sandwiched between the galley and exit

These are by far the best seats IMO on a 773-ER. A small private cabin between the galley and first class. Nice and quiet with Zero foot traffic
