SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Am very disappointed in SQ at the moment :(

Still no call after the 24 hours so tried the 8228 number again. Apparently no task was even created in the system for me to get a call. I was promised a call back within the hour - and that was coming up 2 hours ago.

Where is Cruiser Elite when you need him to wave his magic!
Oh that sucks.

I've had a moment where I initially called up and input my KF number into keypad then hung up and I couldn't be bothered changing something. Then an hour or so later I got a call back from KF call centre asking if I still required help. This was a positive experience for me.
Another time I had a missed call from an unknown number and searched it up and found out it was from KF call centre with Singapore number and no further call backs which was annoying as no message was left and who really wants to call back an international missed number. Negative experience for me. I probably could have called the Sydney number to find out what it was about but I really couldn't be bothered.

They called back close to 3 hours later - right at the time I said I was not available. They tried twice within the space of 3 mins but left no message.

I called them back on 8228 - had same conversation for 4th time. This time they would help me with a commercial ticket...after 30 mins I had to hang up but she called back at scheduled time. Redeemed in end but painful process!

But now a question...

So I have upgraded 2 of 4 segments. They have split the 2 upgraded segments to a seperate PNR. Is this normal? Last time I upgraded, it stayed in the same PNR and I got emailed a voucher.

Re: SQ Tips, Trips and Tales,

I flew SIA into Seoul yesterday and was asked to remove one of my earpiece for takeoff. This had never happened to me before so I was surprised. When I asked why it was in case there was an emergency. I assured him I would know it something went wrong however he just kept repeating it was for my safety so I complied. The same thing happen at landing as he came looking for me.
Strange that the pax next to me was asleep was not woken up and the pax 6 rows up could keep his noise cancelling headphones on. I did ask one colleague and apparently this is SOP for TA and Landing?
So its ok to be asleep (or in a coma) but not ok to be listening to music:confused::confused::confused:

Funny you should mention this :) : http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/open-discussion/sleeping-on-planes-68748-11.html

On the last page of that thread I outline the reason why listening to music could be a distraction: you may not hear crew commands.

On our recent J Award flight back from Rome on check in the SQ rep apologised that there had been a late metal change on the flight to SIN (to MEL was no change) and that we would get 20K points each for the inconvenience. The 20K of points just posted.

The seats were the sloping flat type rather than the fully flat type.

However I have had metal changes in the past both to better and worse planes on award flights but have never been awarded points for the change before.

Is it just me or maybe I'm looking at peak periods for travel but all J seats for SYD to LHR/CDG around May/June/July 2017 seemed to be waitlist only. I last looked 1 month ago and there was lots of availability. I linked my SPG to Krisflyer last night and now have silver status-seems to work reverse in terms of seat availability..

Although I was looking for F availability for July 2017, award availability seemed to get taken pretty quickly, so I was booking as soon as the awards were loaded. So not surprised that J awards may be few and far between now. Maybe try ZRH? Or another European port?

so I'm currently a silver and currently travelling. By the time my last flight comes around (Singapore to Sydney back home) I shall be ~2000 points away from Gold. IE once I arrive in Sydney I shall be past gold.
However that doesn't help me on my 12hr stop over before the last flight (I chose it as I have some meetings).

What are the chances they will let me in the lounge for a shower & feed during my 12hr stopover? very slim I'm guessing?

I may be wrong but I seem to remember SQ SG lounge doesn't have showers.

I have previously used showers in the SQ business lounges. Has this changed?
If not available try PP as Cruiser suggests...the Dnata lounge has showers and complimentary booze.

I assumed daft was indicating VG Gold status which allows access to Gold Lounge which has no showers and not SKL which does have showers - hope that was correct.

My understanding was that also.

To clarify.

Krisflyer Gold Lounge - No showers - VG, *A Gold etc

Silverkris Lounge - Showers - Only SQ J+

I might have assumed incorrectly then that daft was in SIN

I was referencing SIN SKL (never been in the Gold lounge). :)

aah bugger, thought the lounge was one and the same. I did use the Silver Kris lounge in April as I upgraded to business class. I thought I would get access to the same being Elite Gold.
Guess Dnata it is for a shower then.

Nothing wrong with the PP Dnata lounge apart from local travelers talking loudly at their phones and Buddhist Monks. Yes, I suppose other travelers can talk loudly at their mobiles in SKL too and there is nothing wrong with Buddhist Monks but how can they afford a business lounge? Don't they eschew the trappings of wealth? Just one of life's little mysteries I guess.

they would be the pretend monks :p
I've seen how the real ones live in Sri Lanka and the kids growing up there as they are not wanted or afforded by their parents

Not really a mystery... lots of reasons why monks might be in a premium class lounge or cabin. And not necessarily that they paid for it.

The airline may have granted them status, other passengers may have guested them in or switched seats, the organiser of the travel may have paid for them to fly premium, or they may have been seated there for operational reasons, etc...

I flew SIN to coughet on silk air in J earlier this year. At coughet the immigration express lane was only for Thai diplomats and monks nothing for J on any airline
