Curiosity question
On R day time flight, do you guys get your CA to make your bed and actually sleep in it? and then unpack it
or do you just recline it and relax

There is no set routine, there is no 'etiquette'. Some pax will sleep. Some will stay awake. Some will sleep part of the flight and watch tv the rest, or v.v. Passengers on your flight will likely have a variety of travel plans lined up for the day... just this flight, or connecting flights, or a full 30 hours ahead of them to/from USA.

If you want to use the bed you ask the crew to make the bed. If you don't want it, don't ask for it. It's as simple as that. No one is going to ask 'why is he doing that?'

ok nice! thanks

Isn't this finishing soon?

yeah, as above. seems to get extended with slightly different rules.
used to be $40 per person and as long as transit in either direction was less than 24hrs
then reduced to $20, then no tobacco, then no food
and now in its current format

No food!?!?
What are you supposed to use it on?

Duty free?

It finishes end of Sept 2019, unless it gets extended.

Changi Transit Privileges | Changi Airport Singapore

I'm travelling in Feb 2020 (assuming Hong Kong hasn't completely descended in to civil war). The list of inclusions is paper thin and far from interesting, so couldn't care less if it gets extended or not.

I would have thought it was the other way around? The only exclusions are mainly ones you would expect - airline operated lounges, hotels, car rental, top up cards. Hermes is probably the the only surprise (although it's always been on the excluded list). It's valid at all other shops aside from pop-ups.

A free bottle of gin or a few hours in the airport lounge for nix seems a pretty good deal :)

I'm pretty sure the program will never go away, in the forseable future. Correct me if I'm wrong but they just set expiry periods for the vouchers so you can't go hoarding them like you could in the good ol days. That means vouchers will expire at the end of the current period and can't be used in the next period, even if you got the voucher the day of the promotion expiry.

I found this out the hard way and lost $80 of vouchers.

E.g. If promotion ends 30th September and new promotion starts 1st of October. You receive a voucher on 25th of September, you must use voucher by 30th of september, otherwise it's invalid from 1st of October.

Overheated and rock hard bed, but maybe that's just the suites .... could be another issue with the business product.

Friends of mine just returned from ZRH flying SQ J. Wish they had of stuck with EK or CX. Will be interesting to hear why.
Having to sleep crooked maybe?

That's one reason I'm not impressed with SQ. I look forward to the discussion over a bottle of red on Sunday.
High time we all band together and start a coordinated concerted 'Avoid SQ Premium Cabins at all times' campaign on AFF.

Here's the thing - a month ago I needed to get back from PVG with no flt booked - for last 10 years have always been able to book SQ rdpt R, F or J 1 to 2 days out - this time nuthin for days.

A quick search on Trip reveals o/w CX J PVG-HKG-MEL with good flt timings for ~A$2.1K so I booked. Gotta tell you - hard and soft products on both sectors pox - HKG-MEL 350 subbed for old 330 - those pox herringbone seats that are designed for match sticks - PH NV Champs PVG-HKG = vinegar - Deutz Champs HKG-MEL = cats pi** - food seriously average - no Champs in J lounge in HKG - I intend to avoid CX as much as possible to / from China - not just get on here and whinge about it - I will avoid it wherever possible - last resort only for me MEL-CHINA except Air CA and MU.
