SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Yes, we do prefer 1A & 1F for 77W, if it is the 8 F version of 77W, we would have ask for 1A, 2A or 1F, 2F. I tried to change seats in SQ website, all 4 seats are taken. To make matters worse, subsequent SQ228 is full and I can see that SQ227 still empty. I might ask to get changed to SQ227 and give ourselves a full day in Singapore to enjoy Jewel Changi.
Don’t trust the web site 100% - call and ask - KF call Crt always your best friend

SQs position in *A well known - but one thing that never stops getting up my nose is the grossly incomparable reciprocal offerings from other *A members - check what CA offer as bubbles in their PVG F Lounge:

And what would this cough cost $10 a bott? OK bucks aren’t everything I fully understand - but seriously? This cough in any F Lounge? And SQs offering to pax from other *A Members who are eligible to enter SKL F in SIN:

And bear in mind up until 2 weeks ago other *A carriers eligible Members could enjoy PH Rare - just a stunning Champagne - now that is discontinued and CH now offered - still a great offering. And this inequality of offerings not just confined to CA - bloody LX and LH no better - they offer cheap shooty sparkling wine also and not genuine Champagne.

I would argue that SQ treats *A Gold members extremely poorly in SIN, so maybe this is other carriers getting their own back.

Seriously? That’s not a little tongue in cheek is it?

And also maybe not directly addressing the topic of *A pax holding F B/Ps and other higher status pax - I would suggest there is a huge difference.

Only in reply to the shoddy champagne offerings in other ports. *Gold in SIN get the SilverKris Gold lounges, yet with LH in FRA/MUC get the Senator lounges e.g.

Which also don’t serve any Champs only sparkling - SKL Gold in SIN has no toilets inside but virtually private ones 5 mtrs outside the door due to location which are unused by the masses - yep no showers the one big downer

Clearly your comprehension skills are as limited as JT’s :p - reciprocal offerings to *A F BP holders - I will clarify further if reqd.

I think JT's point was spot on in reply to the first part of your post which only talks about reciprocal offerings by other *A members. The CA lounge was just an example no?

But that aside, apart from the champagne (if that's a major issue), I don't think SQ's lounges are outstanding for a home port offering. They're good, but not notable in the same way as say LH or LX.

SQ F serves Veuve Clicquot NV at its F outstations? Same category champagne CX serves in its J lounges.

To my observation, wine offerings in most Asian airport lounges tend to be pretty ordinary (with the exception of HKG). I can only assume it is a result of lack of customer demand.

Hughesy SIN SKL J offer CH Champs in T2 / T3 - fabulous Champs - no other airlines J Lounge comes near this

SQ F lounge serves Moet or Veuve Clicquot (both NV).
Correct - MEL SKL J serve sparkling wine - the same as MEL’s beloved LX Senator lounges serve to *A F BP holders whereas *A F BP holders can enter MEL SKL F and have genuine Champagne - but somehow that point is lost on some.

Isn't that a bit of a moot point?

You say Air China's beverage offering is 'way below acceptable', and their champagne is 'average'. Given SQ's F lounge offering is the same category of champagne as Air China J, what does that say for the SQ lounge?

Again MEL your comprehension skills lacking - the pics I posted above were pissy bubbles offered to *A F BP holders in CA PVG and the CH offered to *A F BP holders in SIN SKL F - hardly the same quality of offering I would suggest - not sure which part is not clear enough for you!

Where / how have you ever concluded that SQ’s F Lounge offering is the same category of champagne as Air China J!

As you confirmed yourself (above), SQ’s F lounges outside Singapore serve moët or VC. Those are both in the same category, cost wise, as the offering on Air China J.

So as I am not confused - you are now comparing Champagne on offer is SQ Lounge to Champagne on-board CA flight itself?

Had a fabulous crew on 238 MEL-SIN and 802 SIN-PEK on Fri Mar 22 - also had a prob with the on board WiFi and the freebie would not connect so had to purchase - sent off feedback to SQ on Tue Mar 26 - response rcvd 29th:

29 March 2019

Dear Mr. Elite

Thank you for taking time to share your experience on your recent flights with us: SQ238, from Melbourne on 21 March; and SQ802, to Beijing on 22 March 2019.

We are heartened to learn that our set of crew on SQ238 and SQ802 served you well on the flights. We expect our crew to always attend to our passengers’ needs as best as they can and are gratified to learn that they had done so on this occasion. We will be sure to pass your compliments to all our crew, which you took time to name. We are certain they will be happy to learn of your comments, and motivated to do better. Be assured that their records will be updated.

We regret that the WIFI did not work oh SQ238. We will request our IFE team to confirm the failed connection, and we will inform you on the refund arrangements, once we have the details. We seek your understanding that our crew’s control over the WIFI service is to limited to a system reboot in order to restart the service.

Your feedback is gratefully received, and we are glad for the opportunity to correspond with you. We look forward to serving you better in future.

Yours sincerely

I was quite staggered to learn IFM has no ability at all to override the system if an individuals allocate free WiFi connection doesn't actually connect - and they carry no free vouchers etc to solve the problem - although IFM assures me this precise point currently under review
