SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Hi Everyone,
Just a couple of questions in regards to my flight.
1. I'm meeting my parents in Singapore after their SE Asia holiday, I arrive at Changi 5 hours prior to them, flying PE with Velocity Gold am I able to access one of their lounges or are they departure lounges only?

2. This is my first PE flight with SQ, any tips on seating/book the cook?

Cheers!

Lounge access requires an onward boarding pass.

However, there are plenty of things to do to occupy your time at Changi, or you can book the airside hotel for 6 hours.

On landing, you can remain airside - you don't need to clear immigration and collect your bags immediately. You can stay in the terminal, meet your folks at their plane, and then all leave the airport together. However - you must go to immigration and baggage reclaim in the terminal you arrive at. So if you land T3, and your folks land T2, once you have met them go back to T3 to exit and collect you bags.

Your bags will be securely stored for you once the last bags of your flight have been delivered. You don't need to inform anyone, this is automatic. Once you have completed immigration, go to the left luggage office and get your bags (takes about 1 minute).

Hmmm thanks for that info. Lots to consider, I'll have a think about it. Thank you so much MEL. Its much appreciated.

If you clear immigration and have time. I've heard the changi staff canteens have awesome food and extremely cheap. They are open to the public but not clearly sign posted

I've always wanted to try but never had spare time land side

Thank you for the suggestion daft009. Considering this trip is predominantly about food it would be rude not to.

has anyone moved a ticketed redemption booking around multiple times via 'manage booking'? I am getting a "We cannot process your request right now. Please get in touch with your local Singapore Airlines office." error on the 2nd time changing this booking..

Quick Q:

few are flying from MXP to SIN next month, currently we are seated in the main cabin in J on the A350, but as DD has been waitlisted, she is in the row behind us on the single window seat. (DS and I are in the middle seats). So I can see her diagonally to the left of me. She is 11 and well travelled, but I am being a mumma bear as DH won't be travelling with us on this sector, just me and the 8 and 11yo.

I am reasonably happy with this but there are seats next to each other wide open in the smaller cabin...would you stay put or move? We have never sat in that cabin, only in the main front cabin.

In your situation id rather have them by the window front/back and myself in the middle. Easier to help them, the divider in the middle is a pain, normally have to walk right around or climb over.

I have award saver suites/first flights coming up in a few months AU-EU. We have an overnight in SIN on the way over and a full day on the way back.

I'm wondering what your tips are for the best first class experience is? Is there anything I'm missing from the list below, what else do I need to know to get the most out of this trip?

In the air - krug, lobster, caviar, middle suites seats booked for A380.
On the ground - TPR on arrival & departure, first class check in area SIN.

We came home in F last month (not suites, the 777 I think?) & loved it! Business class is ruined for us now, lol.

Make sure you have room in your hand luggage for your pyjamas & amenity kit- the new ones have a hard-ish case to are more difficult to squeeze in (particularly if you need to carry your partners also....)
Got to say, I preferred the Dom to the Krug!

I had a minor issue with the IFE - and was very nicely compensated with a generous voucher to shop from the inflight dutyfree mag.

TPR on departure, but i’d skip the arrival. It’s totally not worth it. Better to be on your way to the exciting food and drink of singapore rather then mucking around at the airport.

As usual there are differing opinions.

Personally I like having a shower in TPR on arrival before going out to explore.

Then the possibility of freshly made (and very well made) waffles with fresh berries et al is hard to resist - although not 'Singaporean' in nature....

Thanks for the replies. I'm not missing anything like complimentary chauffeur, spas or any other special perks?

I assume our bags will be checked through as we don't have official stopovers.

Confirm at check-in that your bags are tagged all the way, if that's what you want.

No cars. No spas.

I have a 26 hour stopover in Singapore from HKG-SYD. Would there be any option for them to retain/check my luggage through to SYD from Hong Kong? Or do I have to take it with me and do a full check in in Singapore again?

For that long a duration I've always asked for my luggage but I'm sure you can specify at check in at HKG.
I have a 12hr and ~19hr stopover coming in June will pick up my luggage for 1 and keep it checked in for the other

I always pack enough clothes for 2 days in carry on and then ask them to check it through. Saves waiting and dealing with rechecking bags.

There's Singapore stopover packages available. I think you have to pay a small amount though. There was a recent promotion where the cost was only $1. $1 Singapore Stopover (1 Night Hotel + Admission to 19 Attractions) for Those En-Route to Another Destination [SQ/MI Flights]

I have my first SQ F flights coming up as well, 10 more days to go :)
