SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

hoping to find some wisdom here please... i have an existing booking LAX-SIN-SYD, and want to add a domestic USA flight at the start (it wasn't open when i booked the other legs as > 330 days). called the call centre who said it "couldn't be done" and "couldn't guarantee the award seats would return to availability". now i appreciate other people may have waitlisted behind me (and yes there's no saver availability online anymore), but can't they hold the seats while they cancel the original ticket, and then immediately re-book with the additional sector?

separately the domestic leg in Y is 12,500 KF points. While i appreciate this is still less than the cash fare for the flight, i really want the protection provided by being on a single ticket the whole way through.

any suggestions folks?

Yep they cannot hold seats as it is a you state you cannot change the departure point for the ticket. Others may be waitlisted and who says the SQ computer will actually put the seats back up for redemption anyway, I have canc seats in the past expecting them to return to the saver inventory and nothing, the SQ computer works in mysterious ways. If the add on was at the end of the trip it is possible to add on paying the extra fuel fees and taxes
I had the same issue a few months ago for a trip from Europe to Aus and opted for the intra Europe leg booked separately but the call centre blossom assured me the 2 bookings are linked and I will not have to collect and recheck bags at LHR. We shall see!!
Bit of a nfi question but what "protection" does the single ticket offer? Is it just the delay and missed connection thing?

Cheers Danger UXB

Hi Cruiser,

Heading off on my virgin F flight MEL-SIN tomorrow, then return J class SIN-MEL (unless my F waitlist comes through!). Would this WIFI card work on either flight (both 777-300ER planes). If so, I'd love to take it off your (very generous) hands!

YES it will work on 77W - pm me an email address and I will email it to you - you only need to input the code on voucher you don't actually need the physical voucher.

Danger - so close yet so far!

PM sent. Sorry Danger, is it wrong to feel pleased at what is partly your loss??

Danger if you want a second one I've got two here which I didn't bother using on last suites journey. Was too busy to worry about the Internet!

If anybody else wants one I'm happy to send the code via pm.

They expire 31st Jan so won't get a chance to use them as we're heading back home on QF F.

Better get to Changi to cash these before they expire - just don't know what S$440 best spent on? I have S$40 that has to be spent on Cosmetics, Perfumes, Liquot or Tobacco - but the other 440 plus another 40 and 40 early Feb - racking my brain. Any suggestion pls?

Cruiser, I have noticed you mention these vouchers in other threads. What are they and how do you get them? Thanks in advance... and Happy Australia Day.

get to go to SIN for work and have a mate in HKG so adding on a sector for same cost - pretty happy about that one.

anyway, SYD-SIN BTC breakfast - 'toasted multigrain bread'... awesome

luckily it's also a lunch service, so BTC lunch for breakfast, and normal menu for lunch.

anyone like to share reviews of preferred BTC options? i'll take one for the team and not have the same as I have previously tried! (lobster, chicken rice, lamb shank curry, beef rendang) perhaps the japanese kyo kaiseki?

I tried the kyo kaiseki SIN-CDG last month and it was... interesting.... i guess is the best word. Not sure i would choose it again. I'll attach a few photos when i get a chance.

Anyone had any changi dollar voucher issues recently. In. Changi now and just been flatly refused. Picked up vouchers onway to MUC a week ago. Now returning from LHR seperate ticket, seperate booking etc etc and changi blossom said since jan 1 new rules it's classed as one return so no vouchers. Gosh the VLGD is cold tonight !!

Then again only $$, maybe have another glass of VLGD and forget about it

Just be careful, they aint' no standard glasses.. and they pour to the top (cf QF Flounge)

Nothing seems standard here in TPR least of all the VLGD measures. Plan B for me more lobster more VLGD and forget about the reduced price malt whisky:)
