Singapore Airlines announced today that it will renovate its horrible KrisFlyer Gold Lounge at SIN. (That's the lounge you get access to if you have status on VA or Star Alliance and are flying SQ in Y.) The new lounge will have toilets, showers, work stations and double the number of seats.

Finally!!!

The renovation will start next month and finish by mid-2021. In the meantime, a temporary KrisFlyer Gold lounge will be opened: KrisFlyer Gold Lounge

The SilverKris Lounge is also getting an upgrade.

Oh good news.
The gold lounge is awful.
Fortunately my next visit in two weeks will be in the silver lounge which is so much better. Everything from food and drink to availability of showers.
Singapore. Where silver outranks gold by a long way.

Any ideas on what the replacement Gold lounge will be? I've never actually been inside it, having enjoyed the Silverkris a number of times. However I have an upcoming SYD-SIN-LHR ticketed with SQ as a VA Plat so was presuming that will be my 'opportunity' to visit this showerless lounge. Returning in August, I guess I'll get the replacement. Ambassador lounge maybe?

Showers in the J lounge are horrible as well. A queue of people standing in the toilets, waiting their turn, hot and humid and people can see you through the crack in the door. I think it was missing toiletries as well. So bad that I preferred to pay for a transit hotel for a couple of hours just so I can have a proper shower.

Despite the lack of toilets, I didnt mind the Gold lounge because at least my expectation was low and the times Ive been in it, it was quiter than the J lounge.

And no toilet in the shower cubicle...

SIN T3 desperately needs more than 1 SQ lounge location; a single location in such a vast terminal is really a nuisance,

Changes are huge - not just a makeover - big mvts in lounge locations also - I was in TPR yesterday and mngt were surprised I even knew of upcoming makeover - like I posted this 2 mths back - still even mngt are light on detail - they did say plans are changing every day as this is such a big job.

Basically all lounges in T3 will be moving - DNATA are shifting to an new location further along - DNATA lounge will become Star Gold lounge with showers/ toilets inside - existing Star Gold lounge will be incorporated into new J / F Lounge footprint.

From what I can gather almost entire level 2 from where new Louis Vuitton store is will be in lounge footprint.

Yes all showers in J / F / TPR will have toilets inside shower room - TPR will get day rooms for those who think an airport lounge should be a mini hotel - SQ have been playing this very close to their chests and try as hard as I could I cannot get much more info - Sachi did give me this link also yesterday morn:

Lounge Upgrade

Do we know the timeline at all? What order they will be done in and approx when each will be out of action?

I read yesterday the J lounge will be done first starting in August

I think I had seen that too. Looking at another suites trip end of December next year so hoping the gold lounge would be done last. Selfish? Probably! :D

Wont see it until about May or June next year and I was planning a 24+ stop over at the Crowne so will look forward to the revamp.

This is fantastic news.......they really are in bad condition for the home airport.

Staff indicated yesterday Star Gold Lounge will be first to undergo upgrade - in its new location - and its area will be included in greater J / F / TPR footprint - but again there seems considerable fluidity in info base that those on the ground possess

I should have also added I think segregated male / female facilities will go with unisex facilities replacing them across most lounges - as I said above toilets now will be in shower rooms - certainly in F / TPR - it is such a huge job with trying to limit impact to pax through whole process

The T3 Gold lounge is not too bad, it's the T2 Gold lounge that desperately needs an upgrade (along with its next door toilets). At least the toilets adjacent to the T3 Gold lounge are modern. But the upgrade is still welcome.

The only time I noticed a queue, of 4ppl, of which one was me.. Staff came over and said to follow him.. I did..I ended up in the F lounge for a shower.. pity I was dazed as it was my first time in the SKL Changi lounge.. should've stayed in the F lounge after my shower gaah

Chances are the temporary lounge will even be a step up over the current KrisFlyer Gold lounge!

Toilets in a lounge ... who would’ve thunk it?! :p
Looks from the map to be the old Dnata lounge which was my lounge of choice traveling economy. It had nice showers and toilets but is a lot smaller than the old Gold lounge, not sure how over packed it will be.

Yeah that one is my go too as well if in Y or PE

I have my first experience flying in SQ Suites & J in Feb next year, hopefully the TPR & SK lounges should be completed by then.

I was in the 'new' space yesterday for several hours. Seems to be shared with Dnata and Marambai(?) each with their own lounge dragon. Approx. 80% full most of the time I was there. The 'lounging' chairs were all down the far end, with a very noisy children's playground of some kind just on the far side of a partition wall. By 7.30 pm no fresh fruit left except apples. A very long walk to the T3 A14 gates for my SQ227 flight.

Altogether a down-market experience compared with the LHR T2 equivalent.
