Hi all,
I'm flying SQ from PER to HKG. I'll have carry-on only and travelling on an Australian passport. I've read the SQ webpage about online check-in and see that PER is on the list of places that accept self-printed boarding passes, but there's also the caveat that you can proceed straight to immigration only "if you don’t require travel document/visa/credit card verification at the check-in counter". Given the above info about me and my travel, is it possible to say if this applies to me or not? What else would you need to know to make the call?
Many thanks for any help.

I fly with SQ out of PER to somewhere several times a month and always with carryon only and always online check in. I have never tried the self printed boarding pass so can’t confirm if it will get you through the first checkpoint into immigration but there is never anymore than a couple of people in the dedicated online checkin line so I would play it safe (and save yourself a potential walk back down to checkin from immigration) and just go straight to the counter for a normal boarding pass. FWIW, when I was in SIN last week I did the online check in and was given the option of downloading my boarding pass to my phone, which I did. I also went to the transit counter at Changi to try for a better seat and was told that I should get a printed boarding pass because they have problems with the versions on your phone. I only raise this in case you get the option to send your boarding pass on your return flight to your phone instead of getting a printed version.

Hi Global,
Thanks very much for your replay. So this is what happened; on the back of getting an email from SingAir saying I could indeed skip check-in, I was all set to try my luck and head straight to immigration, but there was no line at the J counter so I chickened out and went up to talk to the friendly folk there. They said, yes, I sorta theoretically could have skipped them, but they would have then paged me, to check my ID before boarding. Alternatively, I could have had my ID checked at the lounge and the staff there would have notified the check-in staff. So, in summary, you can't really just go straight to boarding. Someone from SQ check-in needs to see your ID before you get on the plane. But the option to do it at lounge reception seems like a good one.

Thanks for the update, certainly worth keeping in mind as an option if there happens to ever be a long line at the J or online check in counters.
