I have SQ flights in J MEL-CDG, returning LHR-MEL for July-Aug. next year, booked at the special price for bookings made before 5 Sept.

As can often happen with booking so far ahead, my plans have now changed. I now want to change to a straight MEL-LHR-MEL return in Sept.-Oct., and to add on Austrian Airlines flights LHR-VIE-IAS (Iasi in Romania) & return during the main period I am in the UK.

My booking class for the original SQ flight is D, and I know I shall be up for a change fee - is that per PNR as a whole, or for each individual flight within the booking? And very likely also additional cost as my travel will no longer be within that original special booking period. Can anyone advise how these costs will be calculated. My new return date will not be until 2 Oct. ex-LHR so I can't look at return availability yet.

And how is a Star Alliance partner flight booked with SQ, if the destination does not show up in the search boxes? Is it just done by phoning SQ and shall I be able to use Krisflyer points for it?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I don't think you will have much luck adding those flights onto your booking, unless they are a codeshare and I think that is very unlikely.
Was this a special Star alliance fare is that the special ending 5/9 you were referring to?

The special fare was only for SQ flights. I'm assuming it will cost me more than just the change fee to re-book on different dates flying 2 months later than my original booking.

I wasn't really expecting to add the Austrian Airlines flight onto my SQ booking. I simply wanted to know if I could book those flights through SQ using my KF points, as Austrian is a Star Alliance partner but not on any code share arrangement.

To change the date you would normally have to pay the relevant change fee plus any fare difference.
The fare difference is calculated as the difference between the fare you paid and the fare available on the date of the change.
So if you booked a special fare which is no longer available, or not available on the flight you now want, you could be up for a significant fare difference.
However if you are changing the destination of the first flight I don't know whether SQ will treat this as a mere change to your booking or whether they will want to cancel and reticket. The latter could be more expensive depending on the fare conditions. The fee would probably be higher and you could be up for a fare difference on the return sectors as well, as they would effectively be rebooked from scratch.
You might want to consider simply booking an additional sector CDG-LHR. This is such a busy route the fares are quite reasonable.
This could work out cheaper than changing the destination - its at least worth investigating and comparing the costs of each option.
There are many AirFrance lounges in CDG to which you should have access if you fly with AirFrance.
I can't see any chance of adding nested return flights to Romania onto the booking, not without a huge cost impost anyway!
You should, in theory, be able to book award redemptions on any *alliance carrier with your Krisflyer points, regardless of whether there is a codeshare or not.
The real question will be availablity.

With all due respect OP AFF is the last place I would ask - jump on the dog and bone and call KF - that is the place to get the answers you seek - whilst on the phone if you are at all doubting info being given ask for a Manager or Team Leader and get them to clarify.

Then report back here with your findings and ask does this sound consistent with exp of others.

Then if you still in doubt or still confused call again and imm ask for a Manager or Team Leader - sooner or later you will get CORRECT info.

KF Call Ctr is always your best friend!

Many thanks for all responses. Yes, Cruiser E. , I do know I shall have to contact the KF call centre for both aspects - changing the SQ booking and the *Alliance flight. I am waiting until the LHR-MEL return flight is bookable; it's not until 2nd October 2020 so not available yet.

And thanks eseee... for pointing out the potential problem of changing from a multi-city to a straight MEL-LHR return; I hadn't thought about that aspect.
